Hi guys
Its very quiet on here at the moment.
Think there is a distinct lack of karma floating around at the moment, so I'm upping the karma level today!!
Good luck to those that are so nearly there, hurry up and then we can have your case officers

Re: September 2007 Applicants
Hi there everyone
I was wondering if someone could please help me? I'm having a bit of a freak out!! We applied online (175) on the 25th Oct. When we got to the end of our application there was the "Australian Values Statement". You had to read it and agree to it. So that is what we did.
Now I've been told (by an unreliable source) that I have to download, fill in and scan in form 1281. So I went to see what it was and its the "Australian Values Statement". I thought I did that at the end of my online application. Do I have to do it again? My first impression (which I told this person) was that that form was for the paper based applications cos its not at the end of their forms and for others who have not yet filled it in. He then got all sarcastic and high and high and mighty quoting the immi website about it to me. :curse::curse:
Please can someone give me some clarity on this? I don't want to not fill it in and get a CO only to discover I should have but I also don't feel like wasting my time.
Thanks a stack for listening to me moan as well
Natalie

I think you did it right, and there is nothing to worry about. The value statement is a legal framework, which could allow the authorities to turn up the heat under someone's bum for not complying, and lay ground to visa cancellations or non-extensions for a certain bunch that are not willing to integrate into Aussie society.
This is a very new requirement and your unreliable source could not be sure. Imagine for a second that he/she might be right - then your CO would remind you to send in a scanned copy, but I doubt very much that would happen.
Relax and take it easy. Someone tries to make themselves feel better by stirring up your insecurity - tell them off and you will feel much better.

Hi Natalie
Who was this person??
We applied online on the 13th October and at the beginning of the application had to read and tick the box saying we understood the Australian Values Statement. As far as I am aware, that is all we need to do.
There may be a paper version for those not applying online.
I'm not planning on doing anything else, I'm sure we will get asked for it if needed once allocated to a case officer.

I also think you're ok. They only need you to complete the form once....which you have already done.

Our case officer has requested medicals which we had done two weeks ago. The medical centre(Handsworth) said there is nothing wrong with them and will be sending them early next week how long do you think it will be for the visa grant and is there anything that can go wrong now?
