Thanks Tapemeasures, mine just said "please ensure that you include your WTN in the reference information line so that we can easily reconcile your payment with your application" but hopefully with all the info Ive now provided they will be able to match it!

I've found this forum really helpful over the last year, so thanks to all who've contributed helpful info. I figured I'd share my timeline in case anyone else is in the same boat:

Sent app to London: March 1st
NOR: March 27th
Payment request: April 23rd
Confirmation of payment request: May 25th
LOI: May 29th

They couldn't find the original payment after a month...so I paid again via a different bank on May 28th.

Also, like other people have commented, I never got a 'passed to CIC' email.

I just received an email from the IEC....really relieved to find out nothing has gone wrong!

Dear Rob,

Thank you for your email. I have checked your application status and confirm that your file was processed by our CIC team and was transferred to an Immigration Officer for final review at the beginning of this week. It will likely be finalized within one week; check your email for any notifications.

Kind regards,

IEC Team

That's good! Do anyone know what email address is best to try to contact them on? As I received my NOR letter last week I want to see if they have reserved me a visa given that the quota is full now.....

Hey I wonder if anyone on here can help with this question or possibly something similar has been asked before. Sorry if it has.

I am waiting on my LOI (hopefully I get it, just submitted my payment last week) but before I go to Canada on July 27th I am planning to spent a month in the US, I know that for normal travel to the US they require you have a return flight so do I need to book a return flight or can I go for one month and then travel to Canada to activate my LOI? And if I do this will I still be allowed to re enter the US during my time in Canada? I have a wedding to attend in September so I will need to go back and forth a few times for different things.

I obviously don't want to not be allowed to re enter the US once I head to Canada because they assume I have outstayed my 3 months because of no return flight within that time but I dont want to book a return flight I wont be using either if I am planning on heading straight to Canada.

Hope someone on here can help answer this.

Thanks!

You really should read this
Return or onward ticket

If entering the United States by air or sea, additional requirements apply. The traveler must:
Be traveling on a participating commercial carrier and;
Be holding a valid return or onward ticket. Where the ticket terminates in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or an island in the Caribbean, the traveler must be a legal resident of that country or territory
Personally fly into Canada 1st then onto the US with a return ticket.
As you only want to activate your LOI when you return that will stop you from going to the US first as you have no legal status in Canada.
You could drive across once landing in Canada 1st.
Doing it the way you plan could see you being refused by US CBP.
Your choice of course but why risk it.

Thanks for your reply, that is what I thought.
I will book my flight to Canada and then book a return flight to the US and activate my LOI when I return a month later.

I'm booking my flight to Vancouver this evening and would really appreciate some advice. Are people flying one-way to Canada and just sorting out a return flight when they plan to fly back or is there a company that specialises in return flights in 12 months time? As I can only find return flights up till December.

I don't think its a case when you get the NOR, its the payment request that confirms you have a conditional place (condition of payment and sending forms). I have a feeling that some people who've heard nothing from since their NOR are top of the reserve list in case people pull out so there's still hope! That's my thoughts on this, not sure if its the fact but it would appear so from the payment letter.

Really??...How do you know, have you read it on their website as I cant find info on it anywhere.

Also with regards to your quote ref flights we're in same position, we're just going in July whether visa comes through or not. I have read somewhere that providing you have proof of sufficient funds you can go on a one way ticket... dont know how true that is. However we got our quotes on Canadian Affair and when you put in return flights for a year it only provides the outbound flight details and the flights are £300 odd for July. However, when you put in One Way then jump up to £500-£600 odd!! Candian Affair are without doubt cheapest I have found, I'd just call them direct.

Did you enter Canada as a visitor first, or were you already in Canada?
