GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT

Re: GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT
Most of the restaurants are open or about to. Jazz Corner, Touch of China, Cata Loco, Fishermans, Mango have been open for a few weeks. Sea Sh***s opened tonight. Most of the Beach Road (apart from J29's and Angara) is open including Roma Pisa. The place is teeming with Ruskis but they seem a good bunch this year. Quite a few Brits starting to turn up, and unfortunately so have the beggars and hawkers

Have heard this as well Remy - wonder if we will get caught as our tickets are returns from Goa - nasty shock at the airport if they ask for £150, and in your case £300

The extra airport taxes do kick off from tomorrow so i think we are all going to have to factor in the additional costs to our budget. Expect to pay it and then if you get away with it (doubtful) its a bonus!!!.
Heres a link from 2 days ago regarding the Rise in Tax courtesy of BBC News.

Re: GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT
I just looked it up:
"The flight distance from London Heathrow Airport to Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport is:
4,486 miles / 7,219 km"
It's going to be worthwhile travelling through one of the european hubs - how sensible is that?
... and does this apply to charter holidays? - An extra £75 is a killer surely?

Surely it would still be £12 + £60 = £72?
Of course it applies to Charters, they are still flights! There is mass hysteria developing on the subject on HT........

Re: GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT
I think you will find that the UK airport departure tax was £50 anyway, so that will have been factored into the original ticket price. The difference is therefore £25 per person and I understand will be payable before you book in. An email from Jet says that the booking in desks will not be able to process this and you should approach their ticket office before attempting to book in
".
You are aware that for flights out of London Heathrow Airport, the amount of Airport Departure Tax varies according to the cabin flown.
With effect from November 01, 2010, the Airport Departure tax for travel in First Class and Premiere has been revised to GBP 150 (from the current GBP 100). For travel in Economy, it has been revised to GBP 75 (from GBP 50).
This tax amount is also applicable when availing of an Upgrade to the higher cabin using your JPMiles and Upgrade Vouchers.
For Jet Airways tickets already issued for travel on or after 01 November'09, the differential tax amount can be paid at Jet Airways Ticketing Desk located in Terminal 4, London Heathrow; before checking-in for your flight.
Alternatively, the tax can be paid at any Jet Airways Airport or City Office Ticketing Desk. An MCO (Miscellaneous Charge Order) will be issued by the Ticketing Desk confirming the differential tax collected. The MCO must be presented at the time of check-in for your Jet Airways flight at London Heathrow Terminal 4."

If you have already purchased your flights prior to 1st Nov.....you still have this to pay if your flying out after this date, as far as i know.
Apparently though the present coalition Government is having another look at this following an outcry from Richard Branson, BA, and others. It was the last Government brought this 'Environmental' tax in so hopefully it will be scrapped or at least halved.
Sorry post crossed with Goanstay who has given more detailed info.

Re: GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT
Jet Airways have outsourced their telephone bookings to an agency in India and guess what, they now charge £100 to change inward or outward flights. And 750 Rupees internally. So if you wanted to change a flight into Dabolim from Heathrow, it will now cost £110....! I wrote them a letter informing them that's its the last time i use them to fly into India greedy ba**ards.l I know its not Jet but the out sourced agency that's being greedy but eh...! My ticket cost £604 return, so £110 represents 16.6% of the original cost.
