Thanks - yes is that where I meant. If it does belong to Newtons bet it will be expensive, and new resturants in Candolim, or is it too early for them to start opening?

I have heard from a number of normally reliable sources that the Bending Bamboos is opening soon, but they are not serving alcohol this year. Seems the maddest idea to me as the only reputation it has ever had was as a late night boozer. Apparently this is a choice made by Nigel, will let you know when it opens and for how long he can keep up the business suicide mission.
Late night watering holes are few and far between, and very welcome. The music from Viva Pub was far more intrusive last year. The noise from the Bamboos was normally chat

Most of the restaurants are open or about to. Jazz Corner, Touch of China, Cata Loco, Fishermans, Mango have been open for a few weeks. Sea Sh***s opened tonight. Most of the Beach Road (apart from J29's and Angara) is open including Roma Pisa. The place is teeming with Ruskis but they seem a good bunch this year. Quite a few Brits starting to turn up, and unfortunately so have the beggars and hawkers

Perhaps it was from the Viva Pub - rumour has it that it has been deported to Calengute!

I've been going to the Viva pub for a number of years, and it was a nice quiet late night drinking hole. It was frequented late at night by the locals and taxi drivers. It was only last year that it was turned into a Karaoke bar and played loud music. I went on opening night last season and was charged something like Rs80 for a small kingfisher and vowed never to go back whilst the English guys were running it.
This year it is back to local running so I think the LOUDNESS should go away and hopefully prices should be reasonable. but as usual will depend on the greed of the owner
The guys who leased it last year have apparently taken another pub in Calangute, trying to find where so I know where to avoid

oh no I will not ! I NEVER allow any shop in Goa to fob me off with sweets for change ! Everyone should stand there and demand the actual change - in my experience when you do this, they magically find the correct change.
Dread - sweet !
