The Dolphin Shack at the end of Holiday Street is open and is full then there are beds only until you get to Buddha Shack then almost none until you get to Calangute steps. Some of them have drinks in cold boxes and one or two say they can get you a meal as they have a kitchen (somewhere) and some are asking for money and some not. Not quite the same as sitting in a shack with cold beer and chicken tikka masala is it?
John Lobo (Good Luck shack in Baga) is quoted as saying it will be about 15th November when they will be up and running. He is the chairperson of one of the shack owners associations

Thank you for this most important and valuable information.
My daughter and her friend have flew out to Goa today and I have had some concerns with there being no beach facilities. It looks like there will not be any facilities for almost their holiday which is not good as they have only gone for 2 weeks. However, with the info you have given emsirrah this is an enormous help as I will be in a position to advise them where to head for on the beach when she rings me tomorrow.

Anybody want to have a look at the weather forecast until 11th November
http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave...=OAP&code=null
It won't be like it all day - infact some days may be different but thought it was going to be sunshine all the way now.

Sunglow - in which area is your daughter staying?
There are beds and brollies in Baga and the beach is cleaner.
Don't know about Candolim but will have a walk down there tomorrow.

Staying in Candolim but not too much of a problem as I will advise them to phone my rickshaw friend and he can take them to Baga Beach.
Thanks again.

I think Next, UK are selling them now, or is it M & S, one of the High Street chains anyway?
Don't ask me how I know that, I just do, okay?

Where is the best place to buy a decent sari now that the buy one get one free shop has gone in Calengute. Have given all mine away. I know some smart arse is going to say Mapsa Market, but can't stand being there for long and don't want rubbish. Next negative moan - hate Bombay Bazzar feel like

Its run by a little family of guys, and if you go in and have a good banter with them, they give you discount. They have some very nice saris in there and quite cheap too, even though these are a bit more than 99 rups. Bought a 100% silk one in there for a friend at 350 rups last year.
Dread - bargain hunting

[QUOTE=dreadsoc;8073661]Try the 99 rupee shop in Calangute. Its in the corner of one of the little alleys leading off Calangute Main Street, past the old petrol station, then either first or second left after the parade of posher looking jewellery shops on left hand side.
