I might be completely off topic - but when I saw you mention a bill at The Leela - it reminded me that when we had signed and agreed (like fools) to purchase an apartment from Chris Gregory - he offered to take us out for a meal and we arranged for him to take us to the Leela - he had no idea of the prices and his wife nearly fainted when she saw the bill for 4 of us - it wasn't in the hundreds of rupees but good old pounds!!!
Hope you made him pay the lot !!

It's going away from Calangute towards the creek end, but quite a bit before you reach the estuary. Look for La Calypso Hotel (which is visible on both the main road and from the beach) and it is just before that as you walk towards Baga. (turn right onto beach from end of CSM Rd and walk about 5 - 10 mins along the beach).
The sizzlers and biryani there are worth the little walk !! And the seafood.... ooh !
Enjoy
Dread - salivating now !

I`ve just been told Christmas holiday has been changed to just Holiday in the UK. Any truth in this?

This has been tried before by some stupid council that thought it was politically correct. I call them stupid because I would say it is more politically correct to leave the Christmas holiday as it is. No one would dare suggest that Eid or Diwalli or Honiker get renamed (apologies if the spelling is wrong) but they are too busy worrying about other religions and seem to think that Christians have no rights. If they want equality in religion then they should make official holidays for all religious groups on their religious days and let people choose which they take off from work or school or whatever.

It's hardly a surprise that the BNP are getting voted into political positions when stupid people in local or national government do moronic things like this ! This sort of ridiculous ruling just manifests itself in racism, and hardly encourages the harmonious existence of multi culturalism in Britain.
Gawd help us with idiots like this in power !!!!

Fight back Folks!
Always write CHRISTMAS, never Xmas.
Use the word as often as possible.
Choose your cards carefully to emphasise Christmas
Nearer the time, greet people with "Happy Christmas", never Seasons Greetings or any other old PC tosh.
Any shop or organisation that is avoiding the mention of Christmas, tell'em just what you think about it!
After all, its a main Public Holiday in India, and guess what they call it?

In terms of current accuracy its a bit like advising people not to walk through London in case someone empties a chamber pot from an upstairs window!
Hear hear J5. I spent many happy holidays in Benidorm with my late husband from th 70's until a few years ago. It has developed into a beautiful place. Goa can never aspire to doing the same as the mentality is just not there
Well I would love Goa to be a bit like Benidorm, at least they have pavements to walk on, if a tiny bit of pavement is placed here, they park their bikes on it.
Don't they understand that you can't look in shop windows whilst negotiating taxi's, bikes, cows and shit. Would not like the 'Yob culture' at least we are usually spared that here.

I don't mind the cows.......after all its India!!!
Even the bikes and lack of paths i can put up with but i must admit the over excess of taxi drivers drives me mad!!!

Still wouldn't want Goa to become Benidorm though!!! and i have nothing personally against Benidorm except way too many high rise buildings for my liking.
