GOSSIP AND CHIT CHAT
#616
Hot out here, cloudy no shacks up yet, but you can sit on the beach now and have a beer, and chippies. All are charging for sunbeds - I suppose they have to make some money as they have staff standing by for nearly two months that need paying. On the beach Kingfisher is 80. Most places now are 70 rups. Newtons has taken the large butter out of the boxes and have increased the price by 20 rups. Food in the resturants have gone up not too bad, but it is the Kingfisher prices that upset Mr.N. as the price on the bottle is 34rups. for a large one.
KC going to the Leela for breakfast with friends this week, I can see you crying in your wallet already.
Thanks for the updates H. See you soon

That makes sense 'cos Xavier's prices have gone up twice recently.

Noni, hi. Any news on the shacks? Not sure if it is a good thing with having no shacks on the beach. We arrive next week for 2 months and we really enjoyed the option of going down to the beach and sitting at the shacks, watching the sun go down. Never mind.

Hi,
Just back from the Beach, you can have a drink, salad and chips which appear from the sand dunes
sunbeds 100 rups for 2. There is a meeting tomorrow regarding the shacks, will let you know when the boys come back from the meeting. Hopefully things will get going.
People are grumbling about paying for the beds but the shack owners have had staff they have to pay standing by for 6 weeks.
Love the Fish and Chips in Patricks - and of course, the cheap beer.

Hi Nige ang
Don't know about the end of CSM Road, but if you go a bit further down Baga Road and turn off just prior to the entrance to La Calyso, there is a shack at the end of that road called Emmanuels. It is open at the moment and run by the same guy as last year. I can personally recommend that shack having used the place myself - Food is good there, and quite cheap, and he doesn't take the pxxx with his prices.
His night time bbq's are excellent as well !
Dread - foodie !

We have been down to Colva today,at least a dozen shacks up.No charging for sunbeds, busy, good food and no sellers on the beach as the Cops are keeping them off. After going to Candolim/Anjuna last week it's like visiting a different country.

I might be completely off topic - but when I saw you mention a bill at The Leela - it reminded me that when we had signed and agreed (like fools) to purchase an apartment from Chris Gregory - he offered to take us out for a meal and we arranged for him to take us to the Leela - he had no idea of the prices and his wife nearly fainted when she saw the bill for 4 of us - it wasn't in the hundreds of rupees but good old pounds!!!
