However, I'd have no problem being locked in a room with a paedophile, just me, the paedo & a baseball bat - give me half an hour, that's all I'd ask, AND, I know I'd sleep soundly in my bed that night.
This subject really does push my anger buttons.

I've no pre-disposition to violence & I don't start fights - it might hurt if someone hit me back! I'm also not a parent, never fancied the responsibility - it's not like you can advertise 'it' in Loot if you get one you don't like is it. . . . . . . . plus, it's actually a nasty world to bring children into.

Apart from the vile and despicable aspect: this kind of activity taints all FNs. Any kind of interaction with the locals, even genuine generosity, is more likely to be regarded with suspicion. Also, the majority of the "favours" received are by non Goans who may have become entrenched in that sordid way of life and expand their activities in the State and has created resentment/fear against "tourists" and long term visitors. Somehow, FNs have to make the distinction clear, but we face a huge wall of silence put up by hoteliers who are well aware of this but keep silent for the money....lack principle.

Iv'e got kids and I have loaned them out on a trial basis with a view to keeping them a few time to my family but they just kept bringing them back

On a much more serious note
I'm a Christian but I could never turn the other cheek with regards to these vile, evil people, well you can't call them people they are animals.
It's a subject where I see red and it really pushes my anger button.
The street kids in Goa are so venerable and susceptible to these nasties

Wheatshead if right - the Goan hoteliers know what is going on, we have sat in a small hotel and the same guy comes in each year white but not from the UK and has had this young Indian Boy since he was under age. Made me and OH skin crawl. Saw them last season - he takes him out to the best places to eat (bless he can now hold a knife and fork) and has bought him a taxi. It is totally disgusting the way the turn 'nelsons eye'

As a mum and nani, it really upsets me the way the Goan People (or Indian
people allow little children as young as 2 to roam with their brothers and sisters 5 -6 chatting up the holidays makers. Many of these people are loving parents like us, but there is the black forse, and for that I blame the Goan/Indian parents. Money seems more important than their childrens
safety.

The articles point out that the children are not Goan but have been specifically brought to Goa (many by their own parents) to be deliberatley thrown to the wolves in return for material gain.
This fact, and it is a fact, makes local Goan children also vulnerable to predators, if for no other reason than by association.
This hiddeous activity is one more symptom of a Goa that has no legitimate framework for society, for law, or infrastructure, or anything. The "tourism" that is touted as a symbol of 'development' and a higher standard of living is a sham as you know being a longtime resident.
It would not be surprising to learn that FNs may have to suppress their conscience in this matter as Goans have been doing.

Wheatchief Like you, I will stand up and be counted if I saw anybody 'befriending' young
children, I will go balistic - you get that 'feeling' don't you.
We are being asked not to be racist - but to me a child is a child, black, brown white or a green alien. I do blame the indian parents, many who know what it happening, some of them will do anything for money, and some do not
need it.
Like you, this is a subject I get really uptight about. All children are God's gift and need protecting, and it is sad that they do not have the freedom even in this country as we all had as children - off the soap box now

This is very difficult as a parent to suppress this matter. Being FNs we can't or don't think like the Goans, many of us do not make money our God or adopt the susgad attitute toward these dreadful crimes involving children
Not last season but in 2007 there were posters along the beach nailed to the shacks asking people to come forward and report and indecent incidents towards children if seen. There was a telephone contact number.I didn't see any posters at all last year.
This is the sort of pubicity it needs, though the shacks and hotels were not happy about these poster being put up because it exposed to the tourist that they have a problem

This is where the "perceptions" are confusing?

It is a tragic truth that Indians from outside of Goa bring their families to Goa for its' 'opportunities' in making a living and their children are sent out to earn. It is also tragic that these predators prey on the vulnerable who are usually from poverty stricken areas and lacking in education. Put those factors together with the paedophillic 'grooming' process, whereby the child, and often their families, are duped into believing that the paedophile is a "trustworthy friend", and you have the created opportunity for these monsters to carry out their despicable crimes.
Paedophiles are generally very devious individuals with chameleon personalities, and the naiive out of state indians and their children are easy prey for them.
