Well not exactly "today's" newspapers, but was amazed to come across this tonight?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21841479 Whilst we have all been made aware in recent months that the BBC are a bunch of profligate, unprofessional poofs, it beggars belief that they blew £130 million of licence payers money on buying Lonely Planet! No surprise that they have sold it after a few years at an £80 million loss:eek: Still, it's only money. AndyD 8-)₹ |

Dr. Richard Velleman (who is a member of the property owners' Working Party) has had an article published in The Herald.

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Great article and grateful thanks to Dr Velleman - I wonder if there will be any comments or letters about it, in particular from the lawyers, builders etc who led us like lemmings up (and down ) the garden path ? :frown:

OK, so I must have lead a sheltered life, but the lawyers and builders I've had dealings with in Goa all acted in good faith - OK an eye to a profit, but completely in good faith.

Just catching up after a few days offline, I would certainly pay extra for a child free zone. On one return trip from Mumbai a child sat behind me and if he was not kicking the back of my seat he was making enough noise that even my ear plugs and headphones would not keep the sound out. The parents just did not care and would not stop him even when asked by the steward.
I don't think you should have to pay. It would also help the parents of children to be separated. The other side of the picture is that some travellers seem to be intolerant of even the sight of a small child. (Also suffered in that way when travelling with babies or toddlers years ago.) |

Agree with you, we have suffered in the same way with kicking and noise. The same nursery rhyme 100 times over can drive you mad!

I am not intolerant of children, I often look after my grandchildren and I pay for them to come out to Goa while we are there and enjoy spending time with my friends grandchildren but some children are just badly behaved and their parents will not take responsibility for them. On one flight I sat next to a delightful four year old girl who chattered to me a lot of the way and that was lovely, totally different from the spoilt boy I mentioned earlier.
More recently returning from a holiday in Spain a Spanish family with a lovely little boy of about 3 and baby twins all behaving well; their flight was made a stressful misery when the man sitting in front just kept making remarks about "too many children" and where they should be put. The steward moved him but I felt so sorry for the family. |
