I don't think I could live in India, and definitely not in Hayana, with attitudes like that - and the attitudes of some of the younger respondants - unbelievable!
(any more than all single parents are so for benefits!!!) After the recent horrendous Delhi rape the protesters in the streets for law change were men as well as women. |

It was scuppered by the coalition, especially the Tories, who are seen as Hindu friendly, especially for upper castes who own homes and businesses.......so next time you point the finger at village Muslims for FGM or forced marriages and not being able to adapt to UK customs, Hindus can be just as discriminatory to their own people.....!And i suspect the article was about Gujaratis, not people from Haryana.
Totally agree with you PJ - the Hindus can be just as discriminatory to their own people. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Teachers 'denied schoolboy, 10, water on the hottest day of the year to avoid upsetting Muslim pupils during Ramadan' Kora Blagden claims her son was told he could not drink water She says teacher told him it could be unfair to fasting classmates Said teacher made decision on Thursday when temperatures hit 28 degrees Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2YqUVVz2h Nuts the lot of them. Just for interest why do you single out Gujaratis? Gujarat one state OH and self have never visited (although several postponed plans), also no Gujarati friends, though frequently shop in Belgrave area of Leicester. (One of the children lives in Leicester). |

Yes it exists, not sure a law amendment will help, the people with such attitudes often hide it, just as racial discrimination is often far from obvious.

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Sorry not directly to your post - Milala Yousafzai,( o.k. before you go off on one is a Pakistani), but her courage for standing up for disadvantaged women is amazing her speech to-day for them to be educated, and only 16. I bet she has strong views on how Indian/Pakistani women should be treated by the men folk.

Please though, do not equate the education and treatment of women in Pakistan and India. The two countries are totally different in their education and treatment of girls. Only about 12% girls educated in Pakistan. http://www.mapsofindia.com/census201...racy-rate.html (My post was actually asking why Gujaratis were mentioned particularly for being guilty of discrimination in UK, ????? Just interested) |

Sorry they are all the same to me. All these women need to be brought into this century - end of subject on Indian/:Pakistan. You have your view I have mine
Do Indian girls get shot for going to school??. How do you explain Indian women engineers, surgeons, lawyers, teachers, vets, pilots, police officers, politicians etc. etc. I find it amazing, that the moderator of an expat forum of one country thinks that the country is the 'same' as an ultra strict Muslim neighboring country, I despair:( |

Noni it is not a "view" they are 'facts'. You surely cannot equate 12% female literacy in Pakistan with the education of women in India.

I have met many Pakistani doctors etc. You seem to have the "Indian" way of thinking of Pakistanis. The attitudes are the same in both Asian countries that is my point. :amen: |
