Census

In the 2011 Census, Christianity was the largest religion, with 33.2 million people (59.3 per cent of the population). The second largest religious group were Muslims with 2.7 million people (4.8 per cent of the population).
14.1 million people, around a quarter of the population in England and Wales, reported they have no religion in 2011.
The religion question was the only voluntary question on the 2011 census and 7.2 per cent of people did not answer the question.

Thanks for proving my point. I have no problem with programs being shown for any minority group be it religious or not, providing it is not obscene or illegal. We can always turn off or turn over.

We went to the hell kitchens and came back. It is a week since 86 children fell ill at Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Canacona. Sneha alias Sandhya Desai, the self help group’s owner was arrested and law took its own predictable course. As the ill children went back being discharged from hospitals, The Goan went to the kitchens where food is cooked each morning to reach children in 2148 schools across Goa. But this is what we found. “Kitchens” are mere open spaces in front of toilets, with toilet water used for cooking, animals in the cooking area and filth as the main ingredient. Yes, our children eat their mid-day meals cooked in such conditions.

Whatever the facts in the current case these stories about unsafe or contaminated food crop up regularly - there is often a hidden agenda: these groups are perceived as lower caste and some of the parents are not happy for their children to eat food not prepared at home or by Brahmins. Some of the reported contamination may have been deliberate sabotage.
(And yes Bipat, there are 'communal' (caste-based) tensions in Goa, as a foreigner it takes quite a long time to understand this because it is all veiled and unstated, sometimes it even seems to be unconscious.)

Agree with you Andy these tensions do occur in Goa, They happen everywhere to some extent but in some areas eg Goa more common.
Also people have various 'food 'needs' even within families. I know a few people even who will not eat outside their own home. My mother in law a strict vegetarian always had her own plates and bowls, but nothing to do with caste.
These things are often more complex than just 'caste', not always obvious to a foreigner.
(Don't consider myself a foreigner!!!!).

PS Quite a few very well thought of catering firms for weddings etc in Goa the names of which indicate lowly, ancestors.

off topic-- (Went to a wedding once where priest apparently addicted to coca cola, bottle after bottle he drank, got the order of ceremonies wrong-went to sleep (my son took a great photo of him in a chair with his mouth wide open).
