Pleased to be able to enjoy all parts of Goa - the buzz of the North and the calm of the South - & all the more so, now that the 2 month out rule has been abolished.

It is one of the reasons I stay away from the beach and even when I do go I sit in the shack and dont use the sunbeds. It must be awful for first time visitors from any western country, it is surprising that anyone comes back. I think if I was a first time visitor and that happened I would not go back.
Learning to speak some Hindi has helped ...............it is actually amusing to hear them squeal and shout "eek Videshi bore Hindi hay" (not sure of spelling correct !!) when you tell them to clear off in their own language........ as they scuttle off :rofl: ....certainly gives them a taste of the unexpected !! :sneaky: Dread- x |

How many times ????:D As I said to Dread---I believe you!! I agree.
The only point that I was trying to make was that they don't represent Indian tourists in general or all Mumbai youngsters for that matter (we do have a lot of extended family and friends there so know the normal sort also). Many Indian people would also be appalled by this behaviour. Is it wrong to make this point? And with all due respect how do you know what your young Mumbai relations get up to when they are with their mates and out of sight of all the older folks....like they are when in Goa? 'Family Temple' ....do you own a temple as well as a house and a timeshare? Dread - x Do people have to use the actual word "majority" for me just to make a valid point? Very few of my young relatives go to Goa. Those that do go to the South (there would always be someone there who could report back). Family temple: it means the temple that the family along with rest of the community have visited for at least the century. (Yes they went during the time of the Portuguese rule). (and donate financially, temples like money as do churches!). We no longer have a time share. The house has also been the family house since built in 1920s. We share it with two other families. A promise has been made to look after it and never sell and it is now as much a burden as a pleasure. It is still home and we all grumble but always end up there!! |

To use your own word "tedious" your personal attacks are becoming so.
But to all, lets try not to get heated over it. Maybe agree to disagree ;) |

I don't see any "personal attacks" here, just rather members have a discussion on differing experiences and opinions.

I remember the bad old days when professional photographers would travel down from Mumbai to take surreptitious snaps of Western girls, topless or otherwise, and they would appear in the top shelf girly mags under headings of Orgy in Goa or Topless Hippies in Goa and they could be bought in Calingute Market.......it was quite upsetting for some of the girls despite the liberal attitudes current at the time.
I recall one group of drunken males who were particularly vile taking photos, and one of the local police took his camera and chucked it in the sea! The one and only time I have heard a copper cheered in Goa. :D Dread - x |
