yes, rego has a very basic insurance for if you injure/hurt someone else.

I thought you meant 'real' insurance

Rego and Green slip amounted to $830. Fully Comp is on top of that

That insurance seems to be a sneaky nearly useless one - and overpriced too. It should include third party vehicle cover.

I'm trying to remember what it was in the UK. Road tax I think was about £250 - and fully comp was about the same again.

Green Slip ? Is that what the call 3rd party injury insurance up there ? Just comes as one in Melbourne... tis around 630 bucks in Inner Melbourne. So thats X 2 cars for me then the insurances are circa 330 bucks each on a Barina and a Ford Falcon.... Third Party fire and Theft only though.

Wendy's is cheap... wonder if she is using APIA.....

Buggers wouldnt let me use APIA because we both have full time jobs.... wonder what it costs.

Mine was around the $680 mark in January of this year.

Paul, I have no idea how much insurance is in the UK since I never drove there

Not that useless really... It's a defacto replacement for the NHS and covers everything to do with a car accident against a person.

I think you can get lost wages via that system as well.... not too sure.

Yeah, Rego is, in UK terms the "Car Tax" bit and Green slip the "Compulsory third party" bit. The $830 is for a biggish vehicle, a Nissan Murano.

Slightly different split in my case. The Rego was $450 and Green Slip $380. The Rego is based on Curb Weight apparently and the Murano is damn heavy.
Fully Comp insurance is another $670 on top of that.
