Absolutely! I supposed they'd just have to go synthetic T3 & T4

Just an update on things, as you know i have been very poorly and have had to wait second time to see the consultant needed.
Have been referred to the specialist hospital and am getting a bit stressed as only a week now till my appointment.
Since last quoting on here i have lost 20 pounds in weight and that's even with the medication that doctors gave me to help.
Don't know if it is the worry of what will be found at the hospital but my emotions (being teary) seem to be going all over the place, one minute i am low next high.
I think that one of the things discussed was a barium meal, which i dont like the sound of.
Hope every one else is OK.
Will update on how i have got on after the appointment.
OH forgot to mention, i have been told to pack a bag and bring when i come in to the hospital.

Whats your situation Ausi? What're your labs like at the moment? Your levels obviously arent right thats for sure. You sound Hyper but then I also get like that when I'm hypo so god only knows. Whats happening in hospital? Sorry in a rush and dont have time to read through the thread to find your story

Hi, it was the same last night, managed to get to bed at four in the morning and woke up at eight this morning after that iv had it, cant go back to sleep and dont seem to sit down either just rushing around doing things.
Had problems with feeling unwell and not right since July, that's when i went to the doctors as i was loosing weight due to not being able to eat properly, throat felt tight and keep chocking on food and getting stuck in the throat, nearly lost me a couple of times.
Thought that dairy products were having an effect on things so have been trying to make it better by cutting things out but i just seem to loose more
weight.
I am not due my big check up until December on all the levels for thyroid but think i will ask hospital to check them all, which they probably will do.
Of course i am probably not feeling too good at this time of year as weather has got colder and i have the Raynaud's so the cold does make me feel more tired.
In August was sent to the wrong specialist and have had to do another referral and wait until now to be seen, have referred me to a specialist hospital.
To be quite honest, not sure what is going on and will have to wait till next week for my appointment to find out whats going to happen.
I must admit it is quite a long time since i had my last thyroid level checks and i cant wait to get them sorted. as you say i think the hypo has definitely kicked in.
The other thing i have noticed since my throat has been not right, is my gland on my left side is quite large, bigger than a pea size and some days it seems a little lower in size and then others a lot larger, its getting to be quite uncomfortable.
Looking forward to hospital appointment to get sorted out but on the other hand i feel like not going as i must admit i am scared as to what they will do.

Hey ausi I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling like that You need that appointment, and it'll soon be here - try not to stress (easy for me to say!) as it will just make you feel worse.

I feel a bit of a fraud compared to some of you ladies but I'll give you my update too:

I'm having a bit of trouble sleeping again but apart from that I'm feeling quite good so it may just be the heat; it's warmed up a lot here. Still feel terribly cold occasionally though, which my husband is still struggling to comprehend.

I've had one week on 30mg, one week on 60mg and I've just had a couple of days on 90mg of pig before I go back to the doc at the end of the week for all my test results and to chat about the effect of the meds. Really struggling to work out what is the correct dosage for me, don't feel that much different really

Hello Seasider, Glad to hear that you are feeling better, take it you have just got to get your level of thyroxine right.
Have you just started thyroxine as that seems to be a lot of different levels in a few weeks.
I have not heard of changing levels quite so fast in such few weeks.
Normally you start off low dosage and work upwards over time.

Hope that your dose is micrograms, not milligrams

Feel better (and warmer) soon!

Hey hon. You won't feel that different for a while.

The T4 takes a good few weeks to leave the body. If you had a big chunk of rT3 blocking access in your cells, then the longer you take the piggy stuff, the lower the rT3 becomes and the more the T3, T4, T7 etc in the piggy stuff can enter your cells.
You need to give it a good 4-6 weeks before you start noticing the difference.
Some people find that they need two doses a day.... I am better on that during the winter.
So I have two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
T3 is very short acting... sometimes it pays to cut your dose in half and take it twice a day instead of one big hit. Talk to Ludka about it when you next see her, but hang in there and you'll start to hopefully notice a difference.

Duh. I always say, when they took out my ovaries they took out my brain at the same time. That and they thyroid factor, and there's no hope for me. (How do I ever hope to work at the level I used to? )

Thanks, ladies - yes, Tiddly, I will chat to Dr L when I go for my results. I think it's a bit early to judge, too, but seeing as I am going anyway I will see what she thinks.
