Ok, TSH is now 0.01 (0.35 - 5.50), and Free T4 is 18.1 (9.0 - 25.0)

Free T3 wasn't tested even tho we asked for it, and when we questioned the doc he fed us that line again about how Medicare will only pay for two T3 tests per year and we've had one recently already!

Best bit is it states on the page he printed off :

History of hyperthyroidism ...

Also says:

Previous raised TSH is noted (whatever that means!!)

Also TMA-C (whatever that means too!)

Doc couldn't explain either comments!

When asked where we go from here as absolutely NO weight has dropped, and gaining if anything, and still feeling very tired all the time, his answer was to go back from 100mcg a day to 200mcg and see you in 2 months!!

I think I'll get more sense from you on here than at my local GP ... shocking!
Ditch that doctor now!! Jump up from 100mcg to 200mcg??!!! Shocking like you say!

That prob just means that they have a record of the fact that Nics TSH was high on previous tests.

Without knowing what her FT3 is you're really not going to get anywhere - that is bullshit they're spouting you - utter bullshit! I have my FT3 tested EVERY time (which is about 8 times over the last 18 months probably).

Yeah well we only went to get the result so we can take it to a decent doctor asap ...

Exactly! ... how the hell do we know if the body is converting T4 to T3 without a test?? ...

Out of curiosity, what do YOU think Nic should take from now on? I have to admit I have more faith in your answer than this jokers!!

I would stay on the dose shes on at the moment to be honest. How long has she been taking 100mcg for now? She needs to be on it for 6 weeks and then get her bloods done again. At the moment the TSH is indicating that it has too much thyroid hormone (which is why its below range) but the TSH takes a long time to catch up with reality, so it could just be reacting to how things were when Nic was taking 200mcg. The FT4 looks pretty good as it is - could possibly do with a bit of a boost but without seeing the FT3 its impossible to say. If I were her I would stay on this dose for the six weeks so that the new doc can adequately dose her based on her actual levels on 100mcg for period of time - any time before that you will prob still see the aftermath of the 200mcg dosage.

Yes, agree with Mrs J. Do NOT increase the dose. It lasts in the system for a good number of weeks so will level out by the time you get to the new doc. Jumping from 100 to 200 mcg is the advice of a crazy person. Stick to the 100 and just let things settle down.

Ok,

So you guy's think Nic should stick with the 100mcg for now, or at least till she see's a proper doctor, which sounds like decent advice ...

Oh and 'advice from a crazy person' ... yeah I make you right on that one!

Oh yeah, Nic was also told she'd get very thin in a few months, he even did hand movements to show how thin! ...

Honestly, you REALLY couldn't make this stuff up, and to think these people are almost in charge of your health! ...

Oh and one last thing. I wonder if this medicare and T3 mallarky is a QLD thing? ...

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if any of you ladies have suffered from mood swings. I'm only on 75mcg, as i've only been diagnosed maybe 8 weeks ago.
Yesterday I went for a walk with hubby and it was a bit of a hike, I was having a laugh and enjoying it. All of a sudden I just became so depressed, I got in a right mardy with myself. Of course I took it out on hubby, told him that going out of the house only proves how fat and ugly i am when I sweat like buggery whilst walking. Told him he should be with someone who isn't fat and moody and unable to go 3 miles without bursting into tears because i've got mud on my bloody boots.
I went home, showered and laid on the bed crying for a couple of hours. God I feel so pathetic.
Today the ache in my legs is unbelievable, its there everyday but the walk yesterday has made it worse today.
How the hell are you supposed to lose weight when you ache so much that exercise is too hard.
But looking back on it now, it was very hilly and actually i did rather well going for 3 miles in the mud up and down dale. So why throw a bad mood? I'm so sick of myself.
Anyway, thats a little rant over with. Off to docs tomorrow, just to get prescription. Bloods checked next week. Hope they put dose up.

Tracy

Yes, yes and yes...my moods are shocking, absolutely shocking.

Stop knocking yourself, theres no way I could do a 3 mile hilly walk. I could walk and walk and walk, but throw a hill in it and you've got a heart attack on your hands (well it would feel like that anyway!! )

You're not alone Tracy...all part of this horrible journey unfortunately.

Put it this way, I went to bed early the other night because I seriously felt like punching my husband. Even the sound of his voice and the way he was chewing his dinner were annoying me.

Oh Paul, if only you knew! He only ever used to snore when he slept on his back or was drunk (and the two often went together) but recently he's started snoring when he's on his side I don't sleep well in the first place, and he's not helping.
