GP surgeries (practice managers) etc are slowly figuring out the difference between "diagnosis" and "suffering"...usually because little old ladies answer "no" to the question...."do you suffer from....?" when they are well-managed on 3 different meds for whichever condition they have been diagnosed with.
Any form that requires me to respond with a yes/no to the question...."do you suffer from....." gets a big NO written down, and then in the margin I explain that I well-controlled so do not suffer from the condition.
And yes, ALL prescription meds are free for UK people diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I don't know the cause, but the bottom line is that it is artificial/externally provided thyroxine that is keeping the patient alive - ultimately the patient WILL die from a lack of thyroxine. (Hypothermia and cardiac problems - heart slows right down, body becomes deprived of oxygen) It's not a pretty sight

(It's also one of the very few conditions screened for at birth by the Guthrie heel-prick test.)

Yes, but you don't get the choice of a doctor and could just end up being worse treated than you are here. Not only that but natural thyroid isn't really prescribed at all... maybe one or two docs last time I looked, for the whole country.
I notice Nic's antibodies haven't been tested or you haven't put the result down. Perhaps you can ask for thyroid antibody test?

If they're not being treated

That's what was happening to me when I was in the UK. I was in a terrible state, and my ex just thought I was being a bitch......
Couldn't walk up the stairs without gasping for air, heart palpatations, etc. A 5 min walk to docs took 15 mins. Bloody awful situation to be in.I hope Nic gets sorted Paul, but I agree with Mrs J in all her posts - tell your doc she was on a higher dose... and get bloods done regularly.

I put down everything that is on the sheet. Her next blood test is only for TSH again so I think she's gonna go back to GP and ask for a PROPER evaluation and have EVERYTHING tested!

Definitely push for a full panel, each time

Good luck
