She needs thyroid antibody test for sure, given the link to depression and mental illness all round. Very slack GP for not doing this imo.

Problem is, not only does she need those tests, she needs a doctor that believes they mean there is a thyroid issue. Speaking there from recent personal experience.

Advice from Tiddlypom or Mrs Jackaroo

As you know I upped my dose on Wednesday to 75mcg. Today (Friday) I've noticed my glands are swollen and are painful to touch. Is this normal with more medication or could it be another type of infection?

Thank You

Tracy

Hi Tracy...
You asked me about vitamins the other day and doses so just thought I'd throw this at you:

http://thyroid.about.com/gi/dynamic/...htm%23vitamind

It will give you the amounts you should be taking.

Remember to check your bottle. Some vitamins and minerals are measured in Iu which is a funny little scribbly mark but basically means 'International Units' which ARE NOT the same as mg.
So check whilst you work out your dosage.

Have fun boys and irls:

Hi hunnie

I'm doing okay, still feeling a bit worn out. Can't wait for next blood test so i can up to 100mcg. Taking vitamins, got myself some proper pill organisers so i take everything really regularly. And i do feel a little better, but also there's a feeling i could do better!

Thanks for all your help Annabel

This way we're waiting till Nic starts her new job () and then gonna go see Donna's recommendation in Springbrook. I think it just makes sense, and when we're back to an almost 'TINK' status, we should be able to afford it finally ...

She's been on 100mcg instead of the prev 200mcg now for over a week. In the first few days (coincidentally or not ... ) she had a bit of an energy boost and did a few hours ironing, amongst other things, but of recent she's back to sq1 really and sleeping a lot (most of yesterday) and a fair bit today ... No weight loss or mood for anthing much.

I said to her earlier for the time being maybe go back to GP and ask for EVERYTHING to be tested! ... antibodies and all! ... they can only say no!

In under a month from now we'll hopefully have 2 incomes again as I say and will finally be able to put health higher up the list ...

I don't seem to be on here much of recent, so will throw into the bag that I'm still happy with my job and approaching the 3 month mark so hopefully a permanent soon ... I've recently weaned of the happy tabs and am giving SJW (you know) a go, nothing to lose! ...

All good! ...

Hi everyone long time since i have posted.
Feeling a bit low at the moment as things with emigrating are not going very well.
And as for my health that has gone to pot, feeling very up and down with the thyroid.
As you all know i have hashimoto's thyroidism.
Think the problem with how i am feeling at the moment come from taking the HRT that i have been on for a year, not that i am that old only very early fourtys.
It has started to make me think if it is the HRT that is changing all the hormones for the thyroid to kick out.
But i must admit the HRT that i am on is suited to me and has been fine, but just seem to get additional problems.
Back at the hospital again on Thursday to see what they can do for me.
This thread is a life line, you all give so much help and support.

Yeah mostly money worries really as Nic was a casual and the 6 weeks with a broken ankle didn't help, then losing her job I don't think went down well either.

Still, on the up I hope as we've both at last got full time jobs with prosects ... ... and hopefully some disposable to get her thyroid problems sorted out proper. I think Nic currently doesn't have much faith in the medicine as she's seeing NO improvement. Still sleeps heaps, and all the other side effects.

I'm a light'ish smoker and Nic smoked when we met but gave up when first pregnant and has only been a REAL rare smoker one night in every blue moon, a couple a year kinda thing. Well, I think she's so desperate to be losing weight that she's started smoking a bit recently ... Ok, it IS very little, but i guess it just shows her state of mind at the mo with it all.

Still, one day we'll get it sorted I'm sure ...
