Hey everyone,
I received an email at 11.20 this morning saying that my temp spouse visa (subclass 309) has been granted!!
Just disappointed that i have to wait until this evening to crack open a nice bottle of bubbly
BeccaW - pls don't worry too much about your meds being referred (i know it's easier said than done), but it seems to happen quite often. Jutang's right when she says the doc at the medical clinic would have told you if there was anything wrong. The doc at mine said if there was anything wrong with my blood/urine sample that he would call me. Fingers crossed you'll hear good news soon

Congratulations morcpom & ocean spirit! Its such a relief to have it in writing! Still no viewers for our house - only had one in a week and a half so fingers crossed this week!

I know what you mean about oh laughing about having to stay in a queue a mile and a half long. My hubbie kept telling me i'll have to go in the other passport holders queue like he has to when we come back to the UK after a holiday. He got a bit of a shock though when we went to oz last year

Will keep my fingers crossed for a quick sale on your house. In same situation as you house been on the market for 2 weeks had 3 viewings but no offers. The waiting is a nightmare, on the other hand it might be worth waiting to see if the exchange rate goes up!!!!! Fingers and toes crossed for that.
Thanks Morcpom1

Hi, I am in the process of applying for a 176 visa and was hoping that some of you could give me some info that I can pass on to my friend. She is British and has been going out with an Ozzie for nearly a year now...all getting pretty serious and they have decided that they want to move to Oz together. What visas are an option for her? Is it quite a straight forward process-(176 application is a bit of a nightmare)? What evidence/documents would you recommend she starts collecting to help her with her application which she is hoping to submit in about a year's time? Any help much appreciated!

Thanks Morcpom1Its horrible having to keep the house clean! I'm not a slob, but with 4 kids its very seldom every room in my house is tidy. I think this week I'll just go back to normal - if we get a viewer I can just say I'm going out or something & do a blitz before they come!!! The estate agent didn't seem to think it would be a problem to sell - its only 3 years old & other similar properties are being sold. Our sign only went up on thursday though so that might make a difference. I live in a small village and the chances are it will be somebody from the village who buys it.
On the other hand - my husbands got a phone interview in march to work on a boat and he'd be in singapore till september if he gets it. I'm not going to Oz on my own - so I'd be here until september anyway. Its maybe better if the house doesn't sell for a while!!! & as you say the exchange rate might go up - I've also heard that australian interest rates are going up so there might be some bargains to be had on property out there. You never know - we might end up quids in

Your friend needs to keep everything!! From insurance in both nams, all correspondance in joint names, bank statements, start taking lots of pictures of each other together and with friends. She is best to print off all application forms now and print off the booklet 1 which tel s you all info she needs to provide, just need sot be organised and one step ahead for it to process quickly. Good luck !

Jutangs right keep everything! I chuck out most things but invitations and things are evidence of a social relationship, as well as anything you can get with both names on. I would make sure some of the utilities etc are in both names so you can use that. If you read the booklet there are 4 categories of relationship you have to prove and theres examples of each category. I got a couple of each and stuck post its on the front saying 'evidence of social relationship' etc so they knew what was what.
Mine is different because we've been married 9 years but I think your friend would apply for the defacto spouse, or prospective marriage if they intend to get hitched!
Another thing is to make sure police checks are done in plenty time as the UK ones take up to 49 days. However if you get them done too early - your visas only valid until a year after the police check was issued.
Medicals for us were just booked a day or two in advance so that was easy enough. Good luck with your own & your friends application!

I think they need to be very careful about which visa they apply for. As I understand it you have to be living togther as defacto and not just "going out" and "getting serious". They have to be serious and living as man and wife for the whole 12 months leading up to visa applicaction. I've been through this and despite 5 years as defacto had a devil of a job getting a visa for the OH.
