I'm in Aus on a defacto visa, and had a tough time getting it, as we hadn't been together much over the 12 months.

Can anyone tell me what further evidence they will ask for for PR? I know they want more letters from people. What I'm worried about is finance in particular, as I haven't sold the UK house, only renting it out, so my money will still mainly be in the UK. Will this be seen as lack of commitment can anyone tell me? Will bills in joint names and a few letters from people who know us be enough?
Hi,

I have been liaising with some immigration agents as I am on a fiance visa and wil be applying for our spouse straight after wedding, so I had some concerns as we would be living @ my fiances parents etc etc. The way immigration see it is :- if it is avalid and genuine application and you pass all your meds and criminal checks then you wil be fine. You just need to keep every bit of correspondance in joint names. the fact you stil have a house in the UK shouldnt effect your application I woud of thought, you may be renting it to add to your income, there could be many reasons you stil have it, if it worries you, just write a covering letter exp why you stil have the house, main reason being how bad the housing market is @ the mo in the UK. I would also get a will leaving assets to each other , this shows real commitment , this is a good sign as you do not intend to get married. You wil be fine, just try and stay one step ahead and keep everything and start filing now!! As wont seem so stressful when you apply. Hope this helps!

Hi Jutang, thanks for your very helpful response. I'm going to go and rummage through the bin now for correspondance that I haven't kept. The Post Office does will forms, I'll pick one of those up. A very good idea. Will I have to do another medical and criminal check for it?

I hope yours goes smoothly. Thanks again, Q

Hi, am new on here

Am going for the Spouse visa in a couple of weeks, maybe some of you on here might be able to help?.
I currently hold the Prospective Marriage Visa.

Me and my partner are a little stuck on one of the evidence bits on the Spouse application.

I have to get "A letter from the overseas post advising approval of my Prospective Marriage Visa application"

Is anyone able to tell me where to go to get this a website or something?, we are confused in where to go as the Immergration website doesn't say anything about it.

I was also quoted when i got this visa that 4 weeks would be enough time to get the Spouse visa done and accepted within them 4 weeks, that possible?, need to get Meds done and everything.

Any help would be good, thanks Nat x

Hello Nattie!

I'm relatively new here too and don't have the answer to your question - no help am I at all! BUT I am interested to hear the reply as I've been wondering what happens next - I've just been granted my PMV - just waiting for our passports back and I was wondering about things like the medical and police check, whether I would have to get them redone or whether they would still be valid if less than a year old?

Anyway, hope you get your answer and good luck!! Fingers crossed our passports arrive today - they should do, according to Special delivery tracker thingo they're on their way back now!

oh poop to the police checks and medicals again - I hoped never ever EVER to have to collect another urine sample from my 5 yo again - to call it messy would be a mahoosive understatement although to be fair it was hilarious!

Just a couple of things to sort out here, hoping to be back in Oz in 3 weeks at the most! we're heading back off to Cairns - I can't wait to get back, missing my fiance like mad! I've already issued orders to him to turn the bloomin' rain off - I think its rained just about every day since we left mid January!

Now I'm going back to Postman watch .... do you think he'll be scared if I pounce out from behind the gate?

Medicals and police checks last a year, if you apply for your spouse after PMV within the year you wil not need to do them again. I.e I had my meds done in Jan 2008 (valid until Jan 2009) got my PMV granted in Feb 2008, have until Nov 2008 to apply for my spouse visa, my police check is valid until Nov 2008. I am getting married in July and wil apply for my spouse in August 2008, which gives me 3 months left on my police check and 5 months left on my meds. So I wont have to do them again.

The letter which approves your PMV would of been sent to you via email or mail when your PMV wes approved. Everyone gets this letter and are asked to keep it for when you apply for your spouse, the best thing you can do is call your CO who approved your PMV and ask him/her to resend it.

As long as you apply fro your spouse within the 9 months time frame from when your PMV was approved you wil have enough time, turn around time on visa is very different for each individual. mine took 3 days for my PMV, where other peeps have taken a few weeks, just front load everyting, include loads of info and it should take anything from a few days to a few weeks for your spouse.

Yayyyy!! That makes more sense ... and is also what I hoped!!

Thanks for the reassurance jutang, I've been muttering away to myself about more expenses etc etc... for the last couple of hours - so now I can stop seeming like a mad woman! We're getting married in May so should be able to apply for the spouse visa well within our year timeframe!

No worries, everyone was confusing me too, if you want to ask someone who has been there and done it PMV - Spouse - Pollyana is really helpful, she wil confirm what I said.

I ordered another police check just incase, which ends Jan 2009, but very much doubt I wil need it. so I have meds which last until Jan 09 and police check 2009, I have also ordered an Ozzie police check as when i arrive in oz In would of lived there for 12 months Cumulatative, so thought best to get it now, less stress then when apply for spouse

Your passport wil arrive soon!!

It sure is my PMV now I just have the small matter of a wedding to arrange!

I just find it funny that they sent it back with no covering letter or anything, just passports - but thats good enough, thats all I wanted!! Now must stay away from airline websites!!!
