I sent off my application for a Prospective Marriage Visa on Jan 28th. It got there the day after.
Exactly a week later I got an email from immi requesting my medicals, police check form from UK and Australia and Form 80.
The Aussie Police Check was a bit of a shock cos I didn't realise you needed that if you hadn't spent 12 months in Oz all at once (I have spent more than 12 months there cumilatively).
So I sent off for that ASAP and am waiting (impatiently ) for it's return. I thought that was the last of my worries, but I emailed my CO last week to let him know my medicals had been done on Jan 25th and wanted to check they had arrived. He kindly informed me that they had arrived, but had been sent to "our doctors for review" and said they'd be back in a few weeks' time ... I have no idea why but can only speculate that it's because I have a squint in one eye and poor eyesight out of that one eye (although I don't wear glasses or have any treatment as the other eye is so strong).

Soooooo .... just like many of you out there I am in the waiting game.
I hope to get my aussie police checks back by end of next week (optimistic I know!) and then will send everything off to immi and hope for the best ... again.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE OUT THERE WAITING!!!
I reckon you wil have your visa by beg of March latest XX

Only sent all my docs off a couple of weeks ago and was expecting it to take at least a few months so very impressed with the turnaround time, especially given that one of my other friends who's in the same boat had been told they have a bit of a backlog in Sydney at the mo!

From one very happy permanent resident

Congratulations to Rosiepeach.
It only took a couple of weeks for my OH permanent visa to come through.

RE: Which queue to join.

I'm sure i read somewhere on this forum that If you have an Aussie passport your family can join you in that queue.

I will be taking a chance and will get the OH to come in the Aussie queue with me and the kids. Wouldn't want him to have a peacefultime in a Q all by himself

If its been signed for they have go it!! they wil prob wait for the cheque to clear now. Your bloods should be back by now, mine took 3 days, but every lab is different Do not worry it wil be with you soon. Defo keep me updated!!

Very soon we wil all be living the dream!! xxx
Hiya hunn,
Well I guess that's a bit easier rather than having to start from scratch all over again, but a bit of a bummer needing to get an oz police check as well! Bet you'll have enough on your mind with planning a wedding for July... But at least now you have your pros. spouse visa you can start looking forward to the wedding!! You must be getting really excited about it now.

I still hadn't received any acknowledgment yesterday - i'm a bit of an impatient sod so i emailed oz house yesterday and hubbie called them for me today from his work. They told him they've received my application (phew) and that we should hear something within about 5-10 working days.

I keep thinking i hope i filled everything out correctly and provided enough "evidence" but if i haven't i'm sure they'll tell me. But we want to move over there in the next couple of months so we don't really want anything to delay it.
Oh well guess i can't do anything now apart from wait, it's as bad as waiting for exam results! Argghh

Yup - think we will be having a few drinkies tonight. It's ALWAYS a relief - even if you know it's gonna happen, it's nice to know that is HAS happened!
Congratulations on getting your visa Wheeler-Jones!!!

Yeah when me and my hubbie went to Oz last April for a holiday i stood in the Aussie queue with him (although i have a British passport and was only on an Eta visa at the time) as a family member of an Aussie. So no escape for your other half

hey smellycat - I asked people at customs about this and if you are travelling with a family member - husband etc or kids, you can all go in the same queue. I usually work it to the best advantage depending on which country we are entering - I will pick and choose my queue.

What a shame - that will delay your application a bit. Its a bit unfair not telling you what they've referred your medical for - a lot of unnecessary worry!!! My husband has a lazy eye & squint & really bad eyesight however he does wear glasses (+12) - he had no problems with his medical. So perhaps its if its uncorrected. Surely that isn't worth sending your medical away for? Its hardly going to bankrupt medicare.

On the plus side - I think aussie police checks are quicker than UK ones so hopefully it won't be too long. Good luck!

Phew! I'd have quite easily stood on a queue on my own but with 4 kids to contend with after that long flight thats a bit much!

Thank you.

Hmmm.... now I am even more worried then! maybe they found something wrong with me that I know nothing about?!!! no, I'm sure it's fine.
Yes I had a lot of ops on my eye when I was a child, but for years I haven't needed any treatment or glasses or anything. I forget I've got it most of the time. Oh I hope it's nothing too serious!

Yeh I hope my oz police check will be here soon. I hate waiting for anything!!!!! xxx

Oh no, sorry! Didn't mean to make you worry - feel like slapping myself, that was really stupid of me:curse::curse::curse: I'm sure its nothing. I think from reading this thread they pick up on some minor things you wouldn't think of, so it probably is your eyes!

My hubbies passport arrived today with visa in! Feel I should be delighted but I just think of all the work and money it cost to get a little stripy sticker! Right thats me being insensitive again - you guys waiting for yours and me being ungrateful. I'll away and slap myself again :curse::curse::curse: Really it'll be worth its weight in gold.

Just hope our house sells now - still no viewers!!!

hey Chick,

The doctor from the medical would have called you if there was anything wrong. My mate'e husband had to have his meds double checked - its procedure when you have history of something im sure Thats why I took all my past smears for the last 10 years cos I had abnormal cells removed years ago ( the past repprts seemed to do the trick) If you are a bit ocncerned call the medical centre - bit I am 100% sure if there was you would have been contacted - they have a moral and legal duty to let you know if you are unwell try not to worry
Aussie police check should arrive soon!! xxxx
