Hi
,
Must be some type of record to get a visa approved in!!
Will you get the spouse visa right away or do you have to show them evidence again?
I just sent my application recorded delivery with the royal mail, as i sent it last friday i paid £2 extra so it would be delivered before 1pm. I checked it on the royal mails website and it said it was signed for!!!
So hopefully it's in the right dept now...
Bummer - I sent a bankers draft/chq off with my application so there's no way of seeing if it's been paid as the money is taken out right away. Seems like everyone else pays with credit card, i wish i had done now so i could see online whether the money had been taken!
Good idea about the meds
Think i'll give the dr's a call to see if i can get the tracking number off them, but he did say it would take about 2 weeks for my blood test results to get back from the labs. But they should be fine as i've always been healthy and everything else at my med/chest xray was no probs.
Yep you're right, we will all soon be over in oz and chilling out in the sun with a well deserved large glass of wine!!

Hi Chick,
I have to apply for my spouse by Nov 1st 2008, we get married in July, have to redo my spouse 47sp again and spouse sponsor 40sp, but I photocopied the last ones I sent so just a case of rewriting and changing a few ticks here and there, need to send an Aussie police check as would of lived there more then 12 months cumulatative by then (sending off for that this week) and provide proof of relationship again and marriage cert, but then all good!!
If its been signed for they have go it!! they wil prob wait for the cheque to clear now. Your bloods should be back by now, mine took 3 days, but every lab is different
Do not worry it wil be with you soon. Defo keep me updated!!Very soon we wil all be living the dream!! xxx

Hi all - posted on this a few months back and thought I would drop a quick one to explain our process.
We have been married nearly 4 years and hubby sent his application off early January. No frontloading.
Contact less than a week later - to say need police check, medical, form 80 etc. Returned those forms a few weeks later then was advised that needed a police check for Canada as we spent 12 months there. That was going to take up to 6 months and I am leaving in APril so wasn't happy, told hubby to count the days we spent there and it was only 11 months 1 week so we have managed to avoid that.
Probably should have re-read the migration booklet and could've expected that - so many bleedin forms I tell you what - hard to keep them all straight in my head!! It was SO much easier for me to get a temp visa when I got married here!
Anyhoo - medicals done and CO has them today, so fingers crossed the visa will be issued next week. Still can't help bricking it no matter what though - weird but I guess since our future depends on this getting issued it's always going to be a little worrying
Looking forward to moving to Brisbane!!

Now have to decide whether to send it via post before we go on holiday to Canada in 2 weeks - think it may be cutting a little fine and will make hubby go in instead!
Yup - think we will be having a few drinkies tonight. It's ALWAYS a relief - even if you know it's gonna happen, it's nice to know that is HAS happened!

I sent off my passport on the sat and got it back in post on the Friday, they received in on the Tuesday, so took them 3 days to stamp and send back. Up to you though, you could call your CO and tell him your off on hol and see what he/she suggests ?
what a relief for you both!!

Congratulations!!! I was the same - didn't think there would be a problem but you just never know. I would think you would have plenty of time to get your passport back, however it is a chance. Do you live far from the high commission?

Hi guys,
I posted for the first time in the Immigration section but was directed here. I'll just report what I originally said. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
---
Hi everyone,
First time posting here. Have read quite a lot here over the past couple of months. It's all been very useful. Now I'm coming to put my own application together and I'd appreciate some pointers on one or two things in my application forms. My girlfriend is an Aussie and I'm hoping to move out there later in the year. She currently lives in the UK with me.
---
First problem we're having is on form 40SP. This is the form that my Aussie partner fills in as a sponsor. The first problem is question ten which asks:
"How long after you met did you and your partner begin a relationship?"
Well, the very first day!
We met online and were friends for 3 years. She came over here for the sole purpose of us being together. It's worked out quite nicely since we've been together for five years and I've spent time in Oz and she's spent time here.
We're aware of the fact that the time we knew each other online doesn't count as us having known each other but doesn't it look a bit weird on a form saying we met and got into a relationship on the same day? Should we just put the same date and hope that they read the facts in our statements?
And how do we answer the question about when we decided to commit to a long term relationship? How do you put a date on that when it was always our intention before we ever physically met? As crazy as it might sound, we just knew. So we lived together at the exclusion of others from the moment we met.
The next thing on that form (40SP) is part 'E' - 'About Your Home'. We've read everywhere that this should be about where you're going to live when you return to Australia, she currently lives here in the UK with me so for this section we'd put down her parents house. Is this right? We've read this at a number of places.
I have plenty more for later on perhaps but initially, I'd love as much feedback as possible on these issues. Apologies for jumping right in and demanding information from people but I really am at the beginning and need initial guidance.
Regards,
Aff

Yes. Put your parents details down for this. From memory this is also where they will contact you for when the permanent visa or check up on you should they need to

Here's a question for all those lucky poms who have the magic sticker in the British Passport and have entered Australia. What line did you line up in when you landed in the country. Australian or the Other countries?

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd share my excitement with people who actually care - I got my Visa Grant Notification - Subclass 100 Spouse (Migrant) - through the post today. With effect from 16th February 2008 I am a permanent resident - yeeeaahhh!
Only sent all my docs off a couple of weeks ago and was expecting it to take at least a few months so very impressed with the turnaround time, especially given that one of my other friends who's in the same boat had been told they have a bit of a backlog in Sydney at the mo!

I remember reading in TNT magazine that Aussies on various visas wanted their own line at Heathrow. Fat chance.
I'd say that while you only have a stick rather than the whole shebang your stuck with the tourists unfortunately.

You would have to go through the 'Other' line as you don't actually hold an Australian passport. Just like when you come to the UK on a WHV you don't get through the British line.

So does this mean that if me & the kids have Aussie passports & Husband has visa we have to go through separate channels? Or can we all through the other countries line. Don't fancy being stuck with 4 wildthings myself at passport control - after a days flight they'll be crazy.

OH and myself had to go through deifferent lines when we arrived in UK as he has Aussie and I have UK - so i assume the same for way back to Aus.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd drop in an update on my progress.
I sent off my application for a Prospective Marriage Visa on Jan 28th. It got there the day after.
Exactly a week later I got an email from immi requesting my medicals, police check form from UK and Australia and Form 80.
The Aussie Police Check was a bit of a shock cos I didn't realise you needed that if you hadn't spent 12 months in Oz all at once (I have spent more than 12 months there cumilatively).
So I sent off for that ASAP and am waiting (impatiently
) for it's return. I thought that was the last of my worries, but I emailed my CO last week to let him know my medicals had been done on Jan 25th and wanted to check they had arrived. He kindly informed me that they had arrived, but had been sent to "our doctors for review" and said they'd be back in a few weeks' time ... I have no idea why but can only speculate that it's because I have a squint in one eye and poor eyesight out of that one eye (although I don't wear glasses or have any treatment as the other eye is so strong).
Soooooo .... just like many of you out there I am in the waiting game.
I hope to get my aussie police checks back by end of next week (optimistic I know!) and then will send everything off to immi and hope for the best ... again.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE OUT THERE WAITING!!!
