Hi Everyone,

Don't post on here alot but needed to share my excitement. Just opened my e-mail and my husband has been granted his visa. After 14 years away I am finally going home don't know whether to laugh or cry. Going to ring my Mum tonight and share the news,( now I know she will cry!!!!!). God I can't believe it, the feeling is something else. I'm sure if we could bottle the excitement we could make a fortune. Just need to sell the house now:curse:!!!!!

Just putting the winex3 in the fridge!!!!

Morcpom - thats really excellent!!! It is such a great feeling isn't it when you get that visa grant email !! I did the laugh/cry thing too and then had to keep the news to myself for a whole hour til fiance woke up in Australia as I promised he would be the first to know after me!!

Have a great night celebrating and the very best of luck with selling your house so you can come home to Australia!

Congrats!! Race you in selling your house!

Finally got my visa validated after 2 days of delayed/missed flights.. wasn't too impressed with Emirates this time round

My Validation trip to Australia. A short story by Joolz.
Our Birmingham flight was delayed by an hour before boarding, then another 40 mins whilst on the runway as 'something' wasn't right. This meant we landed in Dubai 2 hours late and promptly missed our connecting flight to singapore/brisbane. So after 3 hours of waiting we finally were told we would be put on the next available flight to get us to Brisbane, we would be sent via Perth on a flight that leaves at 2am; we were told this at 9am so Emirates put us up in their hotel down the road. Nice to have a shower and a bed to lie in so not all bad! At midnight we headed back to the airport and checked in and at about 1am our flight was delayed again by another hour. 30 mins before boarding all the alarms and alerts in the airport went off too! I took my lead from the guy working on the coffee stand and ignored them.
We flew out to perth (Visa stamped YAY!) and arrived to find that only 1 of our 2 checked in bags had made it (boo!). The missus wasn't impressed at this bag had her wedding dress and all her clothes in it. We filled out the missing baggage form and were advised that the missing bag would either be at Brisbane or it would be sent on there if they found it. Our flight from Perth to Brisbane was at midnight again so another 4 hours to wait to get that one. Oh, and that was delayed by an hour too, make that 5 hours
We arrived at Brisbane and only the one bag we had checked in at Perth was there so after speaking to quantas and emirates at both the domestic and international terminals we filled out another form and was told the missing bag would be couriered on when they find it.

We finally made it to Toowoomba and had a well deserved Pizza and a nice long sleep. We had a phone call saying the missing bag should be with us today too, so everything has worked out.

Not looking forward to the flight back to the UK tho!!

You were lucky!!

Remember, those of you going for Pros Marriage or the temp spouse visa - you may need to do this form 2 (temp spouse) or 3 (Pros Marriage)times! Photocopy it before you send it, can take years off your memory otherwise!

We're up in Cairns and its been wet wet wet ever since I arrived! Nice and warm though, although fiance reckons its getting a tad chilly - bless him when he came to the UK with me in Sept/Oct he was freezing when it was a nice balmy 15c - he's not used to proper cold at all

Great news about telling your boss you're leaving!! How did they take the news? They can't feel bad for you though as its for a most excellent reason!
The specified date is linked to police checks and Meds - make sure you still have time after the wedding to get the application in for the next stage, the temp spouse visa.

Hello all,

I was directed here by Pollyana who has been a great help to me so far. Anyway my story....Well I am 29 years old and living in Cambridge, England and my partner is 30 living in Brisbane. She is an australian citizen and we first met back in 2002 when we were both living in London, we was together for 6 months before she went back for personal reasons and we soon split and lost contact. Last year we got back in touch and have been together now for 6 months. We plan to get married and im going there in 2 weeks to pop the big one!

I have been looking at getting a Pros Marriage Visa and just wanted to hear of people who already have one. What evidence did you supply? How long did it take including police and medical checks? I'll also point out my partner has her own house with mortgage and a "government" job working at a hospital. Although we have never supported each other financially but going by what Pollyana says this wont be a problem just yet.

Would love to hear others' stories, what my chances are, other peoples timelines etc...

Thanks.

Should only be a few weeks I guess once all the necessary p/work's been filed...that's what I'm hoping. Sure there are other people here who've submitted Prospective Marriage Visas who could advise....?

If you submit all the paperwork up frint, and you have no issues like criminal record, health problems, children from other rel'ships, then it should be granted in a very short time - days or a very few weeks, esp as you are applying through London.
Other places can take longer, complications slow it up, and if you forget something from the checklist it gets longer while you send extra info in.

DIAC will always quote the worst case too, of several months

On what you have posted here, I'd say yours should be quite quick
