I had my PMV granted end of Feb and I had to make my first entry by mid May. Don't know if there are different rules for spouse visas!!

Thanks smellycat for the kind wishes. Arrived back in Australia on Tuesday and all is good. Fiance is slowly recovering, just tired and sore still and a few tests to do. Its great being back together though, its like a weight off my mind!! Had a bit of excitement on the day we travelled, daughter split her head open and had to have it glued back together again at the hospital - not quite the peaceful pre-trip preparations I had in mind! Anyway, hope your house sale is going through, keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Fima_Cege - it sounds like you have plenty of evidence! I'm not an expert mind you, but it seems pretty much in line with what they ask for! The only documents you need certified are significant personal documents, like your passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate, divorce certificate (if applicable) - the rest doesnt need to be certified. Re the bank statements - I don't think they would want a year and a half worth, just maybe send one from the beginning, one from the middle and one from the end .... and just say the rest are available if required. Same goes for mortgage statements. Sorry can't help re the middle east police check - I have no clue, but I hope you get it sorted! Good luck!

We have been married for 7 years and have a 3 year old. We are totally stressing about what sort of stuff we need to get certified (doing it at aussie embassy in holland, but they say they cannot give advice on what sort of things are suitable etc - they also charge 18 euros per certification! ) We have a year and half worth of joint bank statements, mortgage statements (a bit erratic as don't have all of them), marriage and birth certs, telephone bill receipts for when we lived in the middle east, basically anything that is addressed to both of us. We also have the usual photos and 1 letter addressed to us both. Just don't know if its enough, if its way OTT or what???? Anybody else done this for the perm visa? Cheers in advance......... oh nearly forgot - we lived in middle east for 6 years and have been told that you cannot get a police check from there once you have left (!) wish I had a time machine! - has anyone had a similar experience and been okay? What was the outcome?

Fi and gang x
Hi Fi. Welcome. Its a friendly lot on this thread, you'll soon have advice from lots of people. Most people seem to get their documents certified by a solicitor/lawyer, we got ours done by a physiotherapist friend as its on the Aussie list of professionals who can certify. We included everything that you have as well as xmas card, birthday cards, travel documents and theatre tickets. We put everything into a folder that had plastic pockets inside. My hubbie is also dual nationality but spent most of his life in Oz. we're just under 5 years so will probably get temporary visa first. Most people seem to have applied for an Australian passport for their children to make that part easier. Have you included medical and police checks? I did medical last month but still waiting on police check, its been 35days, they have 5 left before I get cross at them!!
Good luck, its such a relief once you send everything off.

Hi,

My police check I went into my local police station and asked for a subject access form, you need 2 id docs (passport & drivers licence etc) and pay £10 via cheque or cash, but take your cheque book, some stations only take cheque. You need a police check for any country you have lived for 12 months cumulatative i.e I just had to get an aussie police check for my spouse once i get to oz and get married, cos by then i would of lived there more than 12 months. Hope this helps to get an aussie check you go through the form on the immi website.

Hello you!

I have no idea why I had to get here so soon - personally I reckon they just can't wait to have me here! Was a doddle going through Immigration too, I thought they might ask me something - what I don't know - just something, but they didn't - so that was relief

I'm having a few days of doing nothing except relaxing with Al and then next week I'll have to start getting organised! I am the great procrastinator so I may require nagging! although with a 9 month time limit and the clock ticking I better get a shuffle on!

My police checks and meds were done in November but first entry had to be by 10th May which is the date we originally set for the wedding although we may need to put it back a month, I dont think I have enough time to sort everything.... maybe thats why they specified that date. We're up in Cairns and its been wet wet wet ever since I arrived! Nice and warm though, although fiance reckons its getting a tad chilly - bless him when he came to the UK with me in Sept/Oct he was freezing when it was a nice balmy 15c - he's not used to proper cold at all

Great news about telling your boss you're leaving!! How did they take the news? They can't feel bad for you though as its for a most excellent reason!

Cheers for that Rachel! Spent most of yesterday getting docs certified at the aussie embassy in the hague. Cost a bloomin arm and a leg - but well worth it we feel! We haven't included cards....yet.. as theres no dates on them they are just addressed to our first names inside and we thought that anyone could have gone and written out a few in different handwriting (?) hrm... still have some though might be worth a try... Have got some postcards though as they have the postmark on them. The embassy staff yesterday were absolutely brilliant - really friendly! Anyway they gave us the application form for our daughters passport application so that should be great - apparently we will probably get an interview in Berlin!!! Crikey! At least we're seeing a bit of mainland Europe before we head out - grins!

right - on with the grind.....scanning photos at the mo....oh joy!!!!!
