Well, wouldn't you know it. There I was on my way to the garage to get my tyres sorted and on flashes the brake light. So I make it to the garage in a mini-temper and pop the bonnet. No brake fluid. Leak, clearly. Considering I had the master cylinder replaced in July, I wasn't impressed. I think the young mechanic was a little bemused when I got down on my hands and knees on the oily floor to see the leak for myself (best not to trust a mechanic you've never dealt with before, I find). And yes, definite leak. Stupid blinkin brake cylinder gone, brake fluid spraying all over the place.

So the car has been abandoned overnight at the garage so that they can work on it tomorrow. I think I did a good job in convincing them that I'm not a girly girl, know a little bit of the basics about cars and wasn't prepared to be messed about with. Asked lots of technical questions, got a written quotation, told them to phone me first if it even looked like they might need to do any other work, drew myself up to my full height (getting on for 6 foot in heels!), fixed them with a beady eye and told them I'd be back tomorrow morning.

Then I had to walk home in the cold and the wind.

It's that stupid lunar eclipse - they always cause trouble.

Unlucky bundy ... persistent drizzle doesn't damp the effects then?
