The only alternative is that no one cares enough to invest money in making schools and hospitals and so on look decent and providing affordable housing in places people want to live. Not exactly a land shortage here.

Perfectly logical conclusion.

What's illogical is that, according to you, this has always been a wealthy country.

So I ask you again, where's the money gone?
So why don't you come back and grab your share of Browns bounty?

Ahhhhhh…….

Well – just as you say : “I see no evidence of wealth anywhere around me so”

In the same way, just because you see no evidence of “where's the money gone?” doesn’t mean it hasn’t been spent. You just don’t see it.

Some spent wisely, some spent unwisely. But we have had the money and it has been spent.

Where has it been spent? That was the vaguest answer imaginable.

On cheap housing? Cheap healthcare? Schools and hospitals? Are those things better than the UK?

No.

So where has the money been spent?

I must admit, I am always staggered at the number of migrants who seem to dislike Australia but dig their heels in when repatriation is suggested

I guess, to be fair, you have a partner who likes it here, or has reasons to be here.

Apparently a lot of people are like that, and it always seems to colour their judgement.

It’s a tough call, and for what its worth I sympathise. Personally I would be buying a single ticket, but that’s just me – selfish and independent I guess.

I am looking right now at some contracts in the Middle East and Asia. Specifically Abu Dhabi and Jakarta. I gave my wife 3 options:
  • Stay here in Oz, and we regularly visit each other.
  • Go home to Japan, and the same visits.
  • Come with me, and give it a go.

She wants to stick with me. But its not easy.

I see that Wikipedia has no page for "Thread Creep" - thought it might be a worthwhile link from here <g>.

It's interesting that the more a poster uses the word "mate" the more abusive the post - is there a causal connection?

Its like carrying hemlock.

Cheap Housing for the needy. Yes

Are those things better than the UK? Some are some aren't

Where is your proof that your statement is correct.
