You do get used to them and how to handle them! Now I have a old CD spoll cover and use that to catch them. They do good by eating flies. We also get little scorpions in the house every now and then, Again try to catch them and chuck them out.
You will love it Beth, only problem at moment is a burning smell due to Bushfires over here. All of Launceston can smell it.
Take care

Up here on the coast we were blanketed by thick smoke from the bushfires down at Savage River. It's burning about 17,000 hectres at the moment and no-where near contained. Luckily the wind changed this evening and pushed most of the smoke out into Bass Strait.

OMG just got back from Lindisfarne shops and you wont believe what has just happened to me!!! Grab a cuppa and a bikkie or too and I will begin.....

.....Driving along happy as larry, sun shining kids in the back gabbing (you get the picture)after doing the supermarket thing, all of a sudden in front of me these hairy legs appear walking down the windscreen!!!!! My non-paying guest had grabbed a ride with me and after deciding that he had had enough of sunbathing on the roof decided to go for a walk across the windscreen!!!!!! He was bigger than my hand (no exageration!!! my biggest huntsman yet) in my panic I hit all the buttons in the car to get the wipers going, he then had a game of tennis with the wipers going backwards and forwards in front of me (by this time lights had gone green and people behind me were pissing themselves!!!) he then disappeared OMG where!!!. Me and Kids panicked thinking he had got in the car via the bonnet, I couldnt stop shaking, thank god for automatics!! dumped the car outside the house in the road a couple of minutes later, left kids in the car and crept round to passenger side of car leaving a huge gap between me and car. My guest was taking a rest on the wheel arch after his exhausting escaped. Shaking I grabbed a neighbour who was out doing his car to get rid of it for me. He laughed and came over armed with a sprite bottle!! (this man himself is huge and he even used a bottle!!!) he swipped at it but the little (well actually huge) blighter was too quick for him and to my horror I watched it escape into the gap between wheel arch and door jam into the car. The bloke then opened the car door and had a fight with it to get it out of the footwell and then doorjam, whereby the hairy monster died a death under a size 10 sneaker!!!!!!

Cant believe this happened to me today after catching up on all your threads on the spiders!!!!! Must admit this is my third huntsman encounter (and hopefully my last for several months!!) hope that he either came from being up in the bush on Monday or that he was car hopping in the car park. The car is now abandoned in the road waiting for OH to come home from work (who subquently when told about my incident pissed himself laughing!!!) whereby he will spider spray the car and scrub it inside and out before I will go in it again!!!!.

Have calmed down a bit now, just shaking like a mild jelly rather than like a big blamonge!!!!! Kezza my love, (who also pissed herself laughing when I made a frantic call just now to her, just like I did when she had her encounter!!!), I now know how you felt after your car experience and at least I know how they get in the car now!!! (for those that dont know I had one in the doorjam just before I popped back to the UK, went to swipe it as thought it was my boys toy one, till it moved!!) thought that one was big but it was just a baby!!!

Unfortunately there has to be a down side to living somewhere so beautiful!! (5 mins ago I wished I was back in Romford though! lol).

Love C x

PS: Sorry I have no photo to show you as wasnt that composed he he he.

Don't worry yourself Beth, if you end up with our house you will be fine. I have not seen any scorpions either outside or inside the house. I haven't encountered any nasty biting spiders either. But have seen a couple of huntsmans, thank goodness they were outside, we have 3 nectarine trees so if buzzybees theory is right that would be the reason why. The house has been well and truly sprayed inside and out! The only problem I've had are these bloody tiny ants, they keep getting in the house. I've put down some ant bait to put pay to their nest, hopefully they will all die and never come back again
We were sposed to have our inspection today from the realestate agents, but they haven't turned up yet, they have until 5pm, so maybe we are last I will ask her about you guys having the house when you come over, shall I give her your email address? Also ask if Hazel bros will be kind enough to provide a reference for you to say that hubby has a job blah blah. That coupled with a character ref from me should be enough. Did you manage to get the old buyers back on board?
Kerry

Tasmanian Population At New High

Tasmania’s population continues to grow and has reached a record high of 494,520 people.
The Treasurer, Michael Aird, said today the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed that Tasmania's population rose by 1,179 persons in the September quarter 2007.

This is 3,419 people more than in September 2006,” Mr Aird said.
One particularly pleasing statistic is the increase in interstate migration.
Interstate migration recorded a net inflow of 257 persons in the September quarter 2007.

More and more people from interstate are recognising the lifestyle benefits of living in Tasmania.
The strength of our economy is providing many job opportunities for those considering moving here.

Overseas migration also continues to increase.
In the year to September 2007, net overseas migration was 1,283 persons, up 0.9 per cent from the year to September 2006.
