If people want to come upto Launceston know a lovely pub we could meet up at. Even if we have one in Hobart then one in Launceston, It's a lovely place and gets people out and about!!!!
Would love to meet some of you nice people.

Marry Xmas mate, but your a POM too. If you take the pommiegranit version of the POM word that is. Others say it's the prisoner of mother England thing. Any way all the best to Tassie and new people. Tis great here.

Just been in touch with the Tas Government (again) who offer all sorts of assistance to help us with migrating there!!!! Really hoping to get the 'On Arrival' service.....especially with 6 of us!!!
Forwarded an up-to-date resume to them (as requested) and hope we hear some news regarding possible employment.
Going to have a major sort out in the house over the week or two.......put photos in albums etc.........have to do something while we wait for a viewing
Think we will be using 'Pickfords' as our shippers.....
I JUST WANT TO GET TO TAS ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was us upon arriving back in the UK contemplating saving for another 6months before putting the house up for sale - and there are we now after another Christmas in the UK (with it peeing down with rain all day - so our daughter cried because she couldnt ride her new Barbie Island Princess Scooter out on Christmas day!).....
Now we're going to give it a couple of weeks to get straight after Christmas and then get the house valued....

What's changed my mind ?

Just being home for a few weeks following our trip and realising that although i love people here - i absolutely detest the area that we live in......
I cannot believe that i now feel this way having spent my 37 years in roughly the same area.... funny how having kids can completely change your outlook on things isn't it?

Anyway, we had an ok Christmas in the end....was glad to get into work yesterday to escape the house and any relatives for a few hours!!!!
I think i can safely say that we have possibly spent our last Christmas here in the UK!

I hope everyone else on the thread had a good time....
Cathy

Just make sure that any new stuff you buy you take out of packets etc before packing - otherwise customs can charge you for things they think are brand new....

LOL......the amount of time it's taking for my house to sell all the new stuff I've bought in the sales will be really well used before it gets shipped out!!!!!
Been looking at Blackman's Bay and Kingston recently........love Battery Point, but we're a few 00's short of the asking price there....LOL
So it looks like we're heading for one of these two places........is anyone already living there?

Blackmans' Bay was very nice, Kingston is one of the area's we're considering also - we also liked Bellerive / some parts of Lindisfarne / Taroona and i loved some of the houses on Sandy Bay Road - but they are definitely out of our price range! Before going to the Island we really liked the look of Howrah on realestate.com.au - but once we had a drive around - although the place was nice - we did decide that there were other places we liked more.
To be honest there were quite a few area's that seemed very nice - i liked the area's near to Hobart City itself, probably more so because i love older style properties.... I love character houses. Some area's just seemed to have more facilities nearby which is what we would prefer having the two kids and all....
I'm not as brave as Kezzabird who's considering going a bit more rural But that's probably because i haven't driven for years and need to get back into the swing of driving once we move...

Sandy Bay and Battery Point absolutely stunning..........just too many 000's on the asking price...hee hee
I love the older style houses too........I'd love a garden full of beautiful coloured roses too......and a wooden porch with a swing on.......(watched the Waltons too much as a child )
But hey....I can dream!!!

Hey did anyone else out here see the forest fire last night. It was right opposite my window (i'm in Lindisfarne) on the other side of the bay, looked like it was just before New Town, seems like they got it under conrol in about an hour though, amazing watching it, didnt release quite how quick they spread, watched it climb up the mountain rapidly!!! Anyone know if much damage was done? Hope everyone had a lovely christmas, and a happy new year to you all. I'm off to slap on the sunscreen as going to tackle Salamanaca today and then later the Taste with Kezzabird!! regards Corinne
