I got home from work last night and Andy had already done hanging baskets for the front of the house - not that they'll be any flowers for a while - but at least it makes the front nicer rather than just seeing the hooks without any baskets on them! he needs to pay a trip to the dump this week though - as where he cut down a large bush out the front we now have that to get rid of in bags down the side of the house!

Anyway, hows your sorting out / planning for the move coming along?
Any news on an exchange date yet? Also, have you decided how you'll get to Tas yet? ie, what airline / where to stop etc?

Cathy
HI Cathy

It certainly is a nice time of year for the garden, ours is looking its best ever, we only moved in 2 and 1/2 years ago so its just starting to look good now!

Still waiting to hear when we should be exchanging contracts, really hard not knowing when we are leaving, especially for the children
We have looked at various options to Tas, as money is very tight, won't have a stop over, although I said after last years flights I wouldn't do it without having a break of a few days along the way but we just can't afford it. We have lost a lot on the sale of the house so will just have to grin and bear it.

Also we would loose the extra baggage allowance if we have a stop over, although we are not totally sure we will take extra anyway as we have emailed the airlines that fly to Tas and they all charge heavily for excess, plus they won't guarantee you would even be allowed to take it on the flight.

We did look at flying to Melbourne and then getting the ferry over but the ferry is quite pricey if you take a cabin and after 24 hours on the plane, I'm not sitting in a chair all night!
We did also look at hiring a car in Melbourne and then stocking up at Ikea before getting the ferry over but we have been quoted over $700 as an extra charge because of returning the car to an office in a different state.
So that would cost us more than we save at Ikea, I think!

So, still haven't got a clue really

Sam

Can you remember the name or approximate location of that shop in Lonnie?
We miss Paxo stuffing and I wondered if he might have any.
Thanks for the info about Latrobe I will try and get there soon,Would like to see the Platypuss yes they are fascinating animals.

HI Old Git,
The shop is in the centerway arcade. In between Patterson Street and Brisbane Street.
I will have a look on Thursday morning and if he has not got any I'll ask if he can get any. The bloke is a top man, Another lovely place for people to go to around here is the Lavender Farm and also like everywhere else in Tassie is the Vinyards, So many and everyone I've been into has been really good.

Do you get stingy nettles in Tas like you do here in the UK? and if so, do you have dock plants too ?
Only reason i ask is my daughter bless her came home from school last night - they are going to a farm tomorrow for a school day trip - and her teacher had given them all strict instructions to wear jeans with their school uniform so that they can avoid the stingy-nettles!
Its the farmers you need to avoid (all as mad as hatters) not the stingy nettles
Seriously we do have nettles in Tassie as to whether they sting and as to whether we have dock leaves I will have to enquire in the days ahead.
I hope yor daughter has a lovely day.
Its 10.30 Pm here and i am off to bed have to get up especially early tomorrow doing the weekly shop in Legana:curse:
Goodnight

Sounds like it's going to be hard deciding what to do flight wise then.... i was reading another post the other day where someone got hit by a £180 excess baggage charge - and that was for being less than 10kgs over on their luggage - and apparently it could have been more!
That's a lot to pay if you rent a car in Melbourne as well for having it returned... I never realised they might charge something like that.
We were originally thinking about the ferry route - but i think like you we'll just take the 20kgs each....and buy whatever us and the kids might need to tide us over when we get to Tas. We might try and kill some time either here or somewhere else before we come to Tas - but again it'll depend on what happens when we sell the house.

Still not long now and i guess you'll have to make a decision about airlines etc....i know i saw Malaysia Airlines were doing flights to Melbourne (one-way) for about £590 i saw recently - although everytime i look at flights - no matter whether i choose the same dates again the prices always seem different! if you manage to fly during June i know the flights are cheaper then compared to July so that'll be a little bit of money saved.
I guess you have the hassle of making your way to Heathrow as well?
I hate Heathrow Airport. When we flew to Oz last year we only chose Emirates because we could fly from Gatwick with them.

I cannot believe how hot it is here in Romford today
I'm baking.... Cant let Jared play out in the garden as the sun's so strong (the little bugger wont keep his hat on!)..
Eden used to like wearing a hat - anyone got any tips on how to get a little un to keep a hat on (other than buying one with a string tie under the neck?)...

I have the day off work today (hooray) - one of my friends is 40 next week but celebrating her birthday in Puerto Banus in Spain with some friends - so tonight me, her and another friend of ours are having a meal out at this restaurant here in Romford (although when i booked it i didn't realise it was Ratpack night!) :-

www.giorgiosessex.com

So bang goes the diet for another day - unless i choose something healthy (which i probably wont!)...

I prefer this site for the weather....

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/tas/lower-derwent/hobart

Forecast today for a lovely 19 degrees celsius, up on the North-West coast. Not bad seeing it's only a few more weeks before the start of Winter.

Crikey, for once England is actually warmer than Oz this week!
It's been in the 20's for the last few days - mean't to reach high's of 24/25 at the weekend here... Not bad for us for May... bit of a shock to the system for most people though - no pleasing the English - we moan about the bad weather and then moan when it's too hot!
