We just drink it straight from the tap. Here in Tassie they put fluoride in the water and have been doing so for a long time, it helps prevent tooth decay.

Hi Julie
thanks for that. I wasn't sure if i'd read it was ok to drink before on the thread (might have even asked the same question before ages ago!
). I know Andy's relatives in Perth have a water filter on their taps for drinking water - but it still tasted awful to me when we were there - and it was a shock for the water to run warm as well!
Just not used to that in the UK even in the summer ours still runs cold!... As long as the tap water tastes nice in Tassie then i'm sure i'll be fine - as i tend to get my water from my diet-cokes rather than from the tap anyway!
Hope you're having a nice weekend?

I am not so sure about that and I had a quick peek at your gallery you and some of your co contributors could cause me some real grief setting a high standard as you do IMHO
But I find that the people who come to Tassie by and large have that little extra something about them.
I will think about doing a blog.
Let's face it time spent on it would save me cluttering up the main forum

When we first started drinking it, it gave us the trotskys and upset tummys, but we are used to it now. Its just because of all the minerals in the water, our tums weren't used to it, but its perfectly ok. The water actually tastes better up here in the Derwent than down in Moonah, in Moonah I thought it tasted like mud
So maybe it came from the river, I don't really know.

Not going to the coast today now as Andy has had to take his Mum out somewhere for a while - so have decided to go tomorrow....and the weather forecast isn't so good tomorrow which is typical!

Here is the place i was originally talking about. Apparently it's shop 8....
Did you see it on your visit there today? The 3rd picture you sent is a lovely view...

Narrative with such an easy flowing style and i envy you this as my inane burblings I have to work so hard at.And I can;t type and lastly i am on dial up and doing things on a forum takes an age to do at 56K in my case nearer 33K. But being positive using a computer saves on the corn I would have to feed to the carrier pigeon

Now your fantastic thumbnails... hang on, hang on, I am getting there and you have a long weekend with time on your hands.Be so impressed that I am gently guiding you into the courtyard of dreams creating the ambience of you all being there by my side as we enter......

Hi Oldgit - thanks for the pictures... It does look like a proper touristy kind of place
Weather looked quite nice in the pics though...For someone that say's he can't type - you're doing well!
If you're one of those typers that uses just the one finger - you'll probably end up with RSI if you do too many threads!
Practice makes perfect - and when you've been typing for as many years as me - it's probably how i get to waffle on so much - because if i was actually writing by hand i wouldnt be able to do such long messages! Proper writing is becoming rarer all the time nowadays - even in work apart from signing my name and writing down figures - i barely write anything - it's all done on the PC. Quite sad really...
Anyway, no doubt speak to you soon!
take care....

Here are some more pics and I had a wonderful coffee there. The Owner is selling up and moving back to the mainland. No reason was given and i did not ask. Apparently the spring and summer just gone ( we are in Autumn now) was a good season with increased tourist numbers and continuing support from locals. It is a fact that more tourists than ever have visited Tassie numbers up from the mainland.I can believe that as for the locals is anyone's guess,Apparently the establishment can be run by existing staff and any new owner does not have to have catering experience. The current owner learn;t as she went along with the help of established staff . Apparently one owner can run the business whilst spouse or partner works independently of the other It is not a part time business and open all year round. There are no schools in the village nearest schools thought to be at Riverside or Exeter and children school bussed which is the norm in many areas.Just a few bits of interest for you though I know you aren't yet ready to embark on a business of your own just yet.I think the place could have potential it is clean bright well maintained and the confections snacks etc looked mouth watering. The atmosphere was friendly and the service quick and efficient. But it would be as not many customers there at that mid afternoon time. The sun and shadows played havoc with my camera so mea culpa I can't run the sun
