If that is waffle then you must teach me how to waffle
Narrative with such an easy flowing style and i envy you this as my inane burblings I have to work so hard at.And I can;t type and lastly i am on dial up and doing things on a forum takes an age to do at 56K in my case nearer 33K. But being positive using a computer saves on the corn I would have to feed to the carrier pigeon
Now your fantastic thumbnails... hang on, hang on, I am getting there and you have a long weekend with time on your hands.Be so impressed that I am gently guiding you into the courtyard of dreams creating the ambience of you all being there by my side as we enter......

)Where is this place? Looks really intriguing, we only 6/7 days on Tas, and its certainly not like any where we went through!
Hoping to be in Tas in June, so we'll have to add it to the list of places to visit.

I'm afraid i'm the one that started all this!
I saw that coffee shop for sale in Grindelward in the Tamar Valley - which isn't too far from where Oldgit lives....It's in a touristy place called Swiss Village. Oldgit (strange referring to someone with that name!) - visited there after i'd mentioned it - and kindly took some pics for me to see....
Have you done anymore car-boot sales this weekend? How are things going with your moving plans?

The business sounds really good - shame really that we wouldnt be in a position to investigate more..... Also a shame that there aren't any schools right nearby as that would be a big deciding factor eventually on where we chose to work.
I love the way you use the phrase "mea culpa" - dont see that very often.
I think that's a lovely expression to use instead of using the boring old expression "i'm to blame"!

Bloody housing market is a shucking famble here at the mo :curse:

Hi Cathy
No, can't face another car boot sale (not that I did the first one
), took daughter shopping today to factory outlet village, daft thing left her handbag (she's only 11!) in changing rooms, came back to find bag still there, but all her money, £20.00, taken:curse:House sale appears to be moving on fast, almost too quickly, solicitors reckon we could be exchanging contracts very soon

So much to do, so little time, cars and furniture to sell, horse and dog to sort, family to say good bye to - OMG reality hitting hard!
Spent a very pleasant afternoon yesterday chatting to a couple who bought a house near Huonville last year, they hope to retire there in next couple of years, they lived in Brisbane many years ago, so they were a great source of info and encouragement (which is much needed at the mo)
How's it going it with you? Any house viewings over the weeekend, lovely weather here, what's it like with you?

Dont blame you about the carboot sales. Andy was originally planning on doing one this weekend - but then we found out how nice the weather was going to be and he changed his mind! He's spent a lot of time doing the front and back gardens instead. Now got to get a new picture done of the front of our house though as he's chopped down a massive bush we had near our front-door so the front of the house looks different! That's terrible about your daughters handbag - but yet again i'm not shocked to hear it said about England!
It's good in a way that the house sale is going so quickly - but like you i'd be panicking about all the stuff still to do! Have you done a list of everything?
I know there's a few good lists done by people doing their "countdown" on the BE site...
I imagine it was lovely chatting to people familiar with Tas.....
Surprise surprise we have had NO viewings this weekend! Our agent hasn't even rung us this week - still got the hump i think because we didn't agree to drop the asking price.... He took some different pictures of our house last weekend - and changed the picture on rightmove to one of them - which we didnt like and asked him to change the picture back to the original one.....I dont think he liked that! I think he's the kind of guy that is used to getting his own way with people - but i'm as stubborn as hell when it comes to certain things - and although Andy is very gentle-natured - he's no pushover either - so i think we're probably not the agent's favourite clients!
We know he'll try the price drop thing again next week because we've now only got to the end of the month with him as our sole-agent - so i reckon he'll start worrying soon that he's going to get no money from this sale - because we definitely wont be renewing a contract with him...
The thing is our price is open to offers - we just need the viewers in the 1st place and that is where he's not doing a great job in our opinion....
But then in this climate - perhaps we're being a bit hard on him - i dont know!
The weather has been lovely all weekend.... A bit muggy today and we had a few spits of rain this afternoon - but it does make a pleasant change from the damp, wet and windy weather we've had recently.. Glad it's nice where you are too....
Anyway, we've had Andy's Mum over all evening - which has (as usual) given me the hump...
Our daughter was playing up earlier - which she tends to do when this Nan is over - and when me and Andy tried to tell her off she steps in and completely undermines us!
Andy tells her not to let her do things - and she say's "oh it wont hurt if she does it for a minute" blah blah blah...She also thinks she's in competition with my parents... Yesterday my Mum took Eden to the cinema and had her over for the night - and whilst they were out she bought Eden a pretty pair of sparkly shoes at the shops - and for that reason gave me an envelope this morning when we picked Eden up - with some money in for our son to be bought something as well (my Mum&Dad are very good at making sure each grandchild is treated equally and one never gets more than the other)...There was also £3.50 in the envelope for Eden as she has a school trip this thursday so it was a bit of spending money for her from them... I left this envelope standing in a little bowl by our kitchen door....It's normally where i dump whatever i'm holding when i come in from somewhere...
Andy's Mum was in my kitchen earlier - i saw her reading the envelope which my Mum had written on saying "money for Eden's trip and money to buy Jared a present" - and low and behold - as she's getting ready to go home a little while ago - she makes a big deal about getting her purse out - rummaging through her coins - and then giving me money "to buy the kids something whilst we're out tomorrow"...... This is something she NEVER does normally!
Boy it was bad enough spending the whole afternoon/evening hoping that our daughter didn't let it slip that she'd stayed overnight at her other grandparents - as then we'd have had the face that ate a 1000 lemons from his Mum all evening!
Jealousy like that i hate as there's really no need for it - they all get to see the kids as much as each other. She's convinced that because we live only 5mins away from my Mum&Dad that we see them everyday i think - when it's never more than once a week - and sometimes that's just for 10mins!Anyway, god - sorry for the outburst.....
Feel better now i've got that moan off my chest! (im sure i'll have another stab at moaning when Andy gets back in a minute from taking her home though! )In the meantime i'm going to go and have a large diet coke - a bar of chocolate and watch mind-numbing TV for an hour before going to bed!!!

Make sure you let us know once you exchange contracts on your house though - then we can start doing a right proper countdown for you!!!!
take care

But it's not nice - and definitely not a nice experience for your daughter who i imagine was very upset about losing the money.

I am afraid the handbag situation happens here too. I took Teabags girls to the open air swim pool during the summer hols, when a big gust of wind came and scared shit out of everyone, so I grabbed the kids out of the pool and got our belongings to go get changed, when we realised that one of the girls bags was missing. At first I thought it had been blown away, but upon further investigating and searching it was found in the male changing rooms minus her pocket money
The horrible thing is I actually know who took it, as the kids were swimming I was keeping an eye on our stuff, and there was a dodgey looking bloke sitting near our bags, I was watching him the whole time, he must have struck when I was getting the kids out the pool. He had the cheek to lay down and sunbathe albeit rather nervously after he saw me pointing at him. But because we didn't have any proof it was him, we couldn't do anything about it. Poor Lauren was in tears over the whole thing, I felt terrible. So there are arseholes here too I'm afraid, its not restricted to good ole blighty, there just aren't as many

I dunno about you but to make myself feel better I would sit and write lists of all the things I needed to do before the big move. And as I worked through the list I felt better.Mate time will just run away with you now, before you know it you'll be sitting in my living room sitting by the fire drinking a nice cup of Milo, with marshmallows
That always makes me feel better when I'm feeling down. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that your sale goes smoothly and your plans all go swimmingly.

Forgive for butting in on this conversation, Oldgit (your name makes me smile as I'm always calling my hubby an old git
)
Where is this place? Looks really intriguing, we only 6/7 days on Tas, and its certainly not like any where we went through!
Hoping to be in Tas in June, so we'll have to add it to the list of places to visit.

If you are in the Launceston area take the West Tamar Highway past Riverside through Legana its well signposted after that and about a mile and a half or so beyond Legana its a left turn and just keep on going.
Its got a miniature golf course for adults and kids and a boating lake and you can hire mountain bikes
Don't go specially unless you are in the area and maybe combine with a trip to sea horse world where the blokes give birth.
Well this is what i was told that male seahorses play mum unless my Aussie mates are having me on again and again.
If you are coming in June might pay you to ring Sea horse to be sure they are open but i think they are
So roll on June won't be long now.
Pic 1 road sign to turn left pic2 the boating lake pic 3 lakeside restaurant and there is a hotel close by where you can stay a night if that grabs you all
Cheers Oldgit and what an awful name to call your OH LOL

Thanks again for the other pics.... Hope your finger wasn't hurting by the time you went off to bed!

You're welcome the pics give you something to see picture worth a thousand words and all that.
When you come to Tassie there will be something just right for you when you are ready for it.And yes a local school within walking distance would be good.
I trot out the odd mea culpa from time to time along with ecky thump and puffin muffins

No I am a Lancashire Man taken prisoner by a Yorkshire Lass and forced to spend 23 years imprisoned the wrong side of the Pennines
Fortunately for me I was priviledged to spend 39 years in my native Lancashire first!
You can tell a Lancashire Man he can't spell Echy right
Are you from Yorkshire?
