Hi
Show was fabulous, all the kids from all the schools had worked so hard!
Izzy's school didn't win sadly but they did get the silver award and also the award for the best entertainment and best teamwork behind scenes. We didn't get in until 11.30 pm so the kids were shattered this morning!
I didn't realise what a big event it is, all together 900 schools across the whole of Australia take part, there are even categories for country and outback schools that can't get to a venue, they can send in their entries by DVD, so it really does give everyone a chance to compete. Also there is a great emphasis on reusing, recycling etc so it is not just down to which schools have the most money.
Unfortunately we could not take any photos or video anything, they say this is because of privacy laws but I reckon it may have something to do with the DVD they will make of the evening and sell via the schools!!
But it really was a good night, we really enjoyed it.
In case anyone is interested the website is www.wakakirri.com

Hi Sam, glad the show went well
Sounds like Izzy had a very long day then - but i'm sure she thought it was worth it! I imagine they'll be off to bed early this evening having had such a late night!I had a look at the site as well and it does look very good, i was curious to see what the word wakakirri meant and now i know!

Hope you have a nice weekend. Any news on your stuff being released from customs yet? Cathy

Yes, they were rather tired this morning but appear to be OK tonight! I'm knackered though!
Off out for a meal tomorrow night to celebrate Izzy's birthday, going to one of the restaurants in Salamanca, I love it round there

that sounds typical if they've re-energised for the evening! how do kids do that??
Have a lovely meal tomorrow evening
Eden loved it when we went for a meal in the Mexican restaurant one evening...although her dinner consisted of just nachos with sourcream&guacamole!

It does have character around there though.....and really does remind me of some parts of the UK...(not sure if perhaps thats why i liked it?!)

This is spooky! First of all we were in Mures at the same time last week, then guess what, we went to Mezethes the Greek restaurant on the corner (must the be same one) last night to celebrate Izzy's Birthday and then today we went to Tahune Airwalk, we went last year and saw an advert about some extra activities this weekend to celebrate Science week, so decided to go again, its good fun isn't it?
We must be just missing each other every time!!
Happy Birthday, hope you had a good one

Hi all.
Just a question for the locals really.....
When an agent is advertising a property with the comment "buyer enquiry range" and the price listed under that is for example $300,000-$370,000. What does that mean exactly?!
I find it hard to believe that if a property is advertised in this way that you're not going to get offered anything other than the lowest figure shown?
We've been seeing that a lot on realestate.com.au lately. Normally over here you either have a set figure or "offers in excess of" so wonder why they do this?

Glad you had a good time. Duncan's brother is coming out in a couple of weeks, so will probably be doing all the sights again soon, I don't mind though as I love going!

Our house was up for offers over a certain amount and duncan went in 60,000 under the asking price!!!! Ofcourse that was refused, but he kept going in a bit higher each day until they agreed a price and ended up 20,000 under the asking price, so sometimes it pays to be mean!!!! I on the other hand I was having kittens, thinking that we were going to lose the house. But it was all good in the end. Duncan always says you can go up but never down, so go in at a low price to begin with.

oops I forgot your birthday!!! Sorry Mate, hope it was great. Now.... you went down the Huon and didn't call in??????
re: Health Insurance - check out GMHBA they are a lot cheaper than some. I have been with them for years and years.
re: Cops and fines - haven't had any since we arrived May 07. knock on wood.
re: Cost of living, just went to Melbourne a month ago and prices the same there as far as I could tell. Maybe it is an Australian vs. Brittain thing, but I don't think it's Tassie's problem on its own, maybe with some things but in general I don't believe Tas is that much dearer than the ainland
Possums re your Craft supplies - I always buy online anyway as not enough shops around.

Your right, you'd have to be a fool to offer more than the lower amount. But you will have to be prepared if some one else is interested they may come in at a better offer than yours and losing the house. Once an offer is verbally accepted though they cannot accept any other offers, so you don't get any gazzumping so that's good.

Good that there's no gazumping in Oz though...that's one less thing to worry about one day.
