Sorry to hear that Mark has food-poisining and that one of your boys had an ear-infection. Do you have a pool? It's very common isn't it for kids to get them on holiday. I once went away and there was about a dozen kids with an ear-infection all in the same hotel. Hope you all managed to enjoy the holiday before the illnesses struck though.

I dont think people should get slated for saying anything about Tas on this site.....personally i like to hear all the pro's & con's. Everywhere has them, be it Australia or the UK - it's a case of weighing up what they are and i guess trying to gage how they're going to affect us all as each family is so different. I've enjoyed hearing everyone's updates...

Our house isn't back on the market as yet. To be honest we're being a bit lazy at the moment with getting the house ship shape for when the agent comes round. We have done some work on the garden and Andy did a few things on Sunday, but we have a busy weekend planned for the bank holiday weekend coming - catching up with friends etc so it's possible that we wont get an agent around till the weekend after.... Otherwise we know what will happen - we'd sign with Beresfords on the Saturday morning/lunchtime - and then they'd ring later that day with someone to come round the very next day, which is what they tend to do around here....i think to make them look good initially! We're not holding out much hope of selling quickly to be honest - i have a feeling we'll still be here come Christmas this year - which is not something we're looking forward to!

Anyway, enough of us - how are you feeling lately? getting a little bump yet?
Not wanting to be horrible to Mark - but it's a good job it wasn't you really that got the salmonella....

Cathy
Hi Cathy, yeah luckily we definately had air conditioning, although it didnt make much difference for me, so I was a little bit uncomfortable, as belly has sprouted!!! bummer at least I look pregnant now rather than just fat!! he he. Mark is a little better today just waiting for the test results to come back. I too am glad it was him and not me!! rotten aint I. Its amazing really as he has a cast iron stomach too so it must have been really rough whatever it was, his mum came out for a couple of days too and she is also ill with it although not as bad as Mark. They both ate some cream cheese which me and the kids didnt touch and had salad washed in normal water (by his mum) which it also could have been!!!!

Know what you mean about the house, might as well enjoy the weekend before you have to start keeping the house spotless again!! I hated that bit as I would never let the kids get anything out to play with!!!!!!

I agree fully about hearing other peoples views, thats what the sites for and it helps all of us in different ways. We did find the prices higher and the wages less but you just have to shop around more that we are used to doing in the UK, Tescos is far to convenient!!!! Thinking back to when I was a kid though its nothing my mum never used to do each week, getting fruit and veg and some other food stuffs off the market and just getting tins and heavy things in Tescos. I know then they didnt have much money so she watched what she spent. Bless her. Living somewhere so beautiful definately outweighs the few negatives though, hence why we cant wait to get back.

OMG Corinne please give Mark our love, in my younger days I had a holiday in Majorca and came back with Salmonella poisoning, it's very nasty. I came very close to being hospitalized, but luckily started eating and keeping it down just in time. I went down to 6 stone, the doctor was really concerned there for a while. I hope he kicks it soon. You have to be very careful with the kids and yourself too, as you can get it off him if your not careful. Make sure he has a bottle of dettol to clean up after himself and make sure the kids wash their hands regularly. The thing with Salmonella is it stays in your stomach even after you've gotten over it, so if he is ever ill again you have to be very careful to clean up properly afterwards. I know this shit cos I was working at Macca's at the time and the Dept. of health and environment were all over me when I contracted it. I had to leave it 5 days after I was well before I was allowed back to work and my brother was even taken out of the Bakery in Tesco's, as he was a baker there at the time. It's serious stuff. I hope he gets well soon.

Hi Babe, have given Mark your regards. Have sent you an email. I definately make him clean up after himself each time, the bathroom is full of dettol and bleach he he. THink its the cleanest its ever been, the toilet is glistening!!!!!!! I know is horrid but glad it was him and not us, just waiting for the results to come back from the doctors before they start him on antibiotics. I knew about the food standars thingy as read about it on the net, but do you know the doctor didnt even ask if any of us worked or had dealings with food, other than home dinners!!! Bad ah!!!

Cathys idea of the gel stuff is a good one, will get some today to add to my anti-bacterial soap collection on the sinks!!! Feel like I am an obsessive at the mo, will most probably end up giving the kids OCD!!! he he he.

What you got planned for the weekend?

Love to you all Love C xx

You do see alot police here but most of them are in unmarked cars! Thats how they get you spending!!!!
The Car Tax depends on the price of the car we paid $13000 for our car and the Tax on that was about $400.

OMG that brings back a memory, we had only been in Tassie for 2 weeks when my OH got pulled over by an unmarked car too!!! The first time in 18 years since he got his license. He was doing 85 in an 80 zone!!! He explained to the copper that we had only just immigrated to Tas, dont know if that helped us or not but the copper gave him a caution which is on his record for 2 years in Tas!!! bummer!!!!!!

They are really sneaky as you dont know which cars are them really as there are a few different undercover ones, and they hide and pop out to catch people too!!! saw that a few times in Tas and in Perth whilst we were there!!!. I do think the idea of double demerit points over the holiday period is a good thing though to deter the drink driving!!

Oh I would love to see the grand canyon, hopefully next year as my nephew is getting married ... he lives in L.A and is talking of getting married in Vegas
That'll be great - would love to see the pics..
The Grand Canyon is great - i'll have to try and scan one of my pics (pre-digital camera days!) it is very impressive, you dont realise how big the place is until you're there...
A lady i work with is possibly doing a trek through the Grand Canyon next year - although she needs to train/get herself fit beforehand. On this organised trek you're dropped by helicopter in the canyon and i believe where they go - the only way out again is either by horse or helicopter!
I was amazed by the colours of the Canyon....
It's a place i may visit again hopefully as Andy's never been and would like to go.
Hope your nephew does decide to get married there - as it'll be a great opportunity for you to go there!

Hi Corinne, glad Mark is on the mend.
So you've sprouted have you? he he.... we have a very young girl at work who's just announced that's she's pregnant. She's normally very slim, and i'd wondered why the last few week's she's been wearing a baggy jumper over most of her clothes - obviously to hide her little bump! Strange question this - but do you find that your bumps getting bigger every baby?
I only ask as with Jared i was enormous - he was a 10lb+ baby when born - but even so!!! (not that i'm planning anymore i should quickly add! )

I know what you mean about Tesco's etc being far too convenient - i remember my Mum picking up bits and pieces at all kinds of shops when we were kids - i remember oh too well getting on the bus with her and about 10 carrier bags between us! Have you popped into Romford lately? have you seen they've almost finished the new market shopping hall entrance?
Looks so different around there doesn't it....we'll have to rely on just our memories of the grass & the seeing the market stalls from there now wont we?

I was on the back of a Harley trike (a mean looking red one done up with skulls and helicopters as the owner is an ex Vietnam vet) riding along the Bass highway when we got pulled by a cop car coming from the opposite direction. I think the combined speed of us as well as him made him appear from now where. I could not see how fast we were going as i sat on the back admiring the views. The guy driving it got a caution for doing over 100k i think it was. You get a caution as standard as long as you have not had a previous ticket within 2 years. So your first is a caution then you get done next time.

Angus was pulled over in the first week, fortunately just got a caution as we played the dumb tourist but no such luck for the parking ticket though And yes they are sneaky, we've seen them hiding behind bushes and even one a push bike!! (I have read somewhere they are supposed to be in a marked car but they obviously don't take any notice of that!) Some Australian friends have told us that they are on commission for each ticket they give

Yeah, Lenmil, do we have to behave ourselves now on the Tassie thread, well we are actually very nice on here anyway

We are off to Wrest Point tomorrow night as the school are performing in the Wakakirri which is a competition held all over Australia for schools to perform in dance and story telling. Even though they only started at the school recently they managed to find a part for Izzy, which was really thoughtful.

Is it still going ahead in light of the fire they had last night? I heard it was pretty devastating.
