Just what you need, how come they have now changed thier minds??
If we sell the house (please) and get the visa (pretty please) we may have to stay somewhere for a week or 2 to get last minute things organised, we don't have any family near, so will probably use a holiday cottage or similar.
When are you off to Tas?

I shouldnt be surprised.... I really love my Mum and i know she loves me but we have a difficult relationship as my Mum "doesn't do emotions" - her issues not anyone else's - and situations like this occur often and just go to prove that we'll never be as close as some mothers and daughters are....

I need to try and work out exactly what would need "sorting" out once we completed on a house sale. I know it would take a couple of days etc to get some of the final utility bills etc in and to settle them....but those are the things i could ask a friend to sort out for us once we'd left. We also have a loan that would need clearing - but again i could probably do that within a day of the money from the house sale going in...
I'd originally planned on booking the flights once we were staying at theirs - but i think once we exchange contracts on the house that'll be the time that we do that and have the furniture shipped in that interim of exchange and completion....
But 1st i've got to sell our house before i can worry about all this stuff!
The good news is that we have 4 viewings booked for Sunday - but the bad news is that they're spread right out from mid-day to late afternoon so we'll be stuck indoors for most of the day!At what stage are you with regards to your visa?

My 2 daughters grandparents on their father's side emigrated out here in the late 1950's, as Ten Pound Pom's. I've heard many a story from them about their journey to Tasmania. Makes for fascinating listening.

Hey Cathy,
Hope you had a good day today for Edens birthday, we went Legoland last October with Corinne and gang, had a great time.
Good luck for tomorrow with all those viewings, my fingers are crossed for you. Ian has been painting up rooms etc to make things look a bit nice for later on this year. Just waiting for our paperwork for visa to come through from the agent then finally the ball will be rolling. Its a shame about not staying with your mum, its one of the most valuable times she could have with you, it meant so much to us having corrine and gang staying with us, if you explain that you wont be a burden and how much she would enjoy seeing the kids you might win her back round.

Hi Sam, my Mum often agrees to things...and then changes her mind (sometimes by the influence of my younger brother). My Dad doesnt normally have a say in anything that goes on... so it's not him that i'm angry with. When i pointed out to my Mum that she'd already agreed (and Andy was there at the time) -she denied actually "agreeing" to anything!

I know....sometimes families can be a nightmare!
My brother has obviously spoken to my Mum this morning following our conversation last night......and guess what - surprise surprise my Mum has now "agreed" that it probably wouldnt be a good idea if the 4 of us move into their house once we complete on the house....:curse::curse: I have had friends offer already - but when there's 4 of you - you dont like to impose...
so we may be looking at spending the minimum time here now - possibly a couple of nights in a hotel or something....and we'll leave whatever we cant get sorted in those couple of days with one of my close friends..
To say i'm pissed is an understatement! :curse::curse:

Oh I bet you are hopping mad Cathy:curse:
My sister kept on at me about it too...saying theres not enough room and that Dad & Wife would crack us up etc....but we really did not want to have to pay for a hotel....she did however offer us use of her touring caravan
Hmmmm...all of us in there...Mission Impossible!!As Sam Said "FAMILIES"

Meant to say Good Luck with the viewings xx

Hi everyone,
Went for a tour of North West today went on the Don River railway which is good but shame they can't run tours on the main line also went to Ulverstone and it looks like a really nice place. Had a lovely meal at a little resturant called Saffron. Its on the main street in the town centre. Also went for a little paddle in the river there, Had a good day, On our way back we went to Latrobe which is apprently the Platypus Capital of the World, Went to a local park and sat for 20 mins waiting to see some and nothing then we was discussing going home when we saw lots of them looks so cute.
Here is a picture of them,
Well worth a trip there.

Unfortunately we didn't go to Legoland today. We checked the weather forecast for today late last night - and the weather for here and Windsor predicted rain....so we decided rather than pay to go today we'd wait for slightly better weather in a couple of weeks time.... and then - typically - there was no rain till about 4.30 today!!!! :curse: But my older brother did come down this weekend from York anyway which has been really nice, we all went ten-pin bowling earlier today at the Festival Leisure Park in Basildon and for an Indian meal... So we've had a nice day anyway... Nice seeing my older brother as i may only get one more chance perhaps to see him before we move...
Exciting news about waiting for your visa paperwork

I'm going to leave even talking about moving with my Mum for a while....
Whether things will change seems unlikely...but i guess that although it's upsetting for us - in the long run it will be a lot harder for her and my Dad knowing that they missed the opportunity of spending loads of time with the two kids before we leave...

All of you in a touring caravan......mmmmmm.....i'm thinking rather you than me!

knowing your luck it would probably be raining all the time and you'd all be stuck indoors!
I was very upset yesterday after speaking to my Mum, but today we've had a great day out with my older brother and the kids - and to be honest i've tried not to think about my Mum or anything upsetting - or that much about the big move to be honest. I think it's done me good to escape it all for the day.... I'm feeling refreshed and well....whats the time - oh almost 9pm.....me thinks it might be time to watch some crap on Tv and have a bowl of Vienetta ! Sometimes i'm a girl that's so easily pleased!

I'll let you know Monday how we got on with the viewings....

Hi Gary, Vikky & Bump.... I have never seen a Platypus in the wild - and would really love to - they're strange looking things aren't they? You're right they are cute in a funny kind of way though
So you thought that Ulverstone looked nice? I have PM'd our new Ulverstone local Julie with a few questions about the place.... I think we'll definitely be interested in driving up North to take a look when we arrive on the Island....we might even come via Melbourne and Devonport - so i guess if we do that we could always stay a few nights in the Devonport area and have a good look around then....When is your little one due? You signing baby as Bump reminds me of when i've written out cards / presents etc for friends and family whilst pregnant....

Baby is due mid June so getting excited as this is our first baby.
If you do manage to get round the area, I would reccomend a shop in Latrobe called Reliquaire http://www.reliquaire.com/ It's like an maize with lots of different rooms. We got there about 5 minutes before they where shutting so just had a quick look round(They give you a map whne you get there to show you which rooms is which).
The platypus can be seen at the local park, You can goto tourist information and they let you know of a guided tour, Mid way down the main street is a sign for a park and it says platypus viewing, Go down that road and you come onto a gravel road keep going down that road and in the end you come to an area with some toilets(If you need them take your own toilet roll!!!!) Once there have a look on the little board and it tells you different areas. Its about a 5 minute walk from here to a veiwing platform. Just sit there till sun has gone down and you should see them. We saw lots of them.
Its about 1 hour north of Launceston.
