Finally arrived in Australia on Saturday after an interesting flight where I had to give medical treatment twice! Just 2 weeks left until I start the induction. Now in the process of trying to find a house, car, school for kids, register for medicare, tax file no and bank account so should be a really relaxing fortnight!!

But did manage to spend the afternoon on the beach yesterday with family and just that few hours reminded us of why we had made the move.

Was informed by ASNSW via e-mail in mid Feb that an RPL panel is meeting sometime in March (date to be confirmed)

hi chris i noticed that you are about to do your viva exam, can you tell me about the first 8 weeks induction , on road practice .
The exam at the end do you know what this entails as i have just recieved my RPL and letter of confirmation that i will start in july, however it does actually say that if you aren`t successful in completeing ALL required fields inc viva, then you could be out of a job!
I`d appreciate if anyone can explain the 28 week course in detail inc viva assessment and what the LR class test includes too
many thanks Paul.

I went through the RPL process last year ,i was granted a contract to begin march2008 but we had a bereavment in the family and have put this back to july this year, they have`nt stalled or anything like that but been very understanding .
However i received my new rpl and letter of employment today , at to which they have added in bold letters quote
PLEASE NOTE; THE SERVICE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE YOUR EMPLOYMENT WITHOUT COMPLIANCE WITH THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS
which are1. 8 week induction at Rozelle
2.supervised on road pratice for 10 weeks at p1 level
3.a formal 1 day viva examination which include paramedic skills and pharmacological treatment skills
4.futher 10 week on road with assessor with reports on 4 and 8 weeks
It seems that they have changed the contract , so my words are be sure to be ready for this , it is a big commitment to up root all your family , pack in work after 21 years and with a small possibility you may no have a job!!
I have asked on here the lads in ASNSW if they can tell me about the VIVA assessments so i know what they want, dont know if this helps.

Hi guys.

Am just getting my stuff sorted as flying out for tests/interview etc. next wed. Arrive sydney 19th pm.
Tests on 23 24 and 26 march, so if any of you guys out there are free to meet up for a beer/coffee on 20, 21, 22 then that'd be great.
It's starting to feel a bit real now!
Cheers

PS. Swigski. Good luck for next week.

Hi and thanks for the good luck message.

There are 3 other Paramedics from the UK on my induction course and we will be at Rozelle from 8-4 every day apart from Fri 8-2. Come over to the Education centre or let me know when and what time you will be there and we can meet up. Very impressed with the place so far.

Just got assessed as ICP!! Going to NSW in July! Question: If for some reason you fail the VIVA, will they consider bumping you down to P1? Or do you just pack your bags and head home?
