Hey guys,
just wondering whether ASNSW still recruits from overseas - e.g. Germany ;-)? I'm working there as an Intensive Care and Flight Paramedic (resuce helictoper and MICU)...
And if - where to send all my docs, certificates, references etc.? Could it be done by email? Don't wanna burst their email account
And does anybody have any idea about the further process? Means, evaluation as an ACP or ICP (criteria)? interview? and and and?
thanks for all the answers :-D

I actually spoke to Callista by e-mail regarding this and she has said not too worry , they`ve not sent any of us home as yet so chill and enjoy the experience.
Everything happened all at once this week, i got my visa approved on monday, kids got into the school i`ve been chasing for 12 months ...was really important issue for us, my contract arrived and well the rest is history, booked flights yesterday, going out in early june after 23 years with nwas amb service , got great collegues sad to leave them but i did say they could apply!!
I start my course on 6th july and if i was totally honest at the tender age of 44.....can`t wait.
i think all you guys and girls that are making this move have got b-lls, it`s takes alot to do this , and as my brother in law said (who lives on the northern beaches) you have to got to want and be totally commited to all that the move includes ,and have solid family unit....not trying to put the scares on anyone i`m saying don`t move cause you don`t like the job here , it will be same thing in aussie with a bit more diversity on in field career moves ..................other relax and got for it to me the guys over there are having a ball , good luck to all who`ve made the move and all who are thinking about it.
ps......just a quick word on pensions....do not transfer it you will lose your final salary status as i think swigski has mentioned, bye for now and good luck

How did they let you know? E-mail or letter?
I'm still (and very anxiously) waiting!

Hi, Just finished second week at Rozelle. 6 to go! Everyone very friendly & helpful. 3 other Para's from UK on my course thank god. There is a lot of time when you have to do SDL or self directed learning and the company/banter helps a lot.
For any Para coming over, do NOT buy the books they tell you to buy in your induction pack which will be sent to you. This is for new trainees only. We only need the protocol book which is provided on 1st day.
During induction we have been informed that our take home pay will be $1500 per fortnight. Have just sent in my salary packaging stuff which will increase this a bit. It would be well worth people familiarizing themselves with the OZ tax system and salary packaging before they come over. It is quite complex and there appears to be many ways to reduce your taxable income in the service but you do need to know your stuff or have a financial adviser.
Good luck to everyone applying at the moment. You will not regret it once your here!

Sent all my docs in Feb and awaiting results of RPL process. They've been great at keeping me informed at each step.
Not too sure how they appropriate each individual into ACP or ICP level, maybe someone here can shed light on this, wouldn't mind knowing myself
Hope this is of help

It is still worth going to see financial adviser familiar with oz tax system, salary packaging etc cos everyones financial situation is different.
With regards to the system of evaluating as ACP,ICP.
No ACP in NSW. They have trainees, P1, Paramedics and Paramedic Specialist (or along those lines) Every application is judged individually by the RPL panel. You have to have 3 years experience as a qualified Para to be considered for Permanent visa otherwise you go on Temp.

Check out Steven K Amos (Brill comedian) on you tube, his Live at the Apollo performance. His 'coon' cheese bit is great!!

Basically, the first $6000 is tax free similar to UK. The Amb service allows you to salary package up to $9094 a year for certain items like mortgage payments, rent, credit card bills, utility bills etc. I have just provided my rent receipts up to max amount of 9094. What that means is that I now get taxed on my basic minus this amount. You can choose periods over which to benefit from this lower tax. I have chosen 24 weeks as it will cover my lower wage until ICP on road. There are other schemes also like a car lease and an entertainment card.
