Sounds like you guys doing well, wish you all the best!!
Have spoke on the phone recently to recruitment (very helpful) and had a few e-mails from them. Got the impression and made the mistake of thinking that copies of docs they want as listed at end of application form would be asked for if initial application accepted, ooops! :curse:
Have a few questions, again, if anyone can help....
Certified copies of driving licence, birth certificate etc... who is the appropriate person/people to certify? GP or ops managers at work?
Police clearance certificate?....CRB check I presume, through work or contact CRB direct?
They're asking for a driving record...Is that the licence counterpart or a record from work re: accidents etc or DVLA paperwork?
Have been sent via e-mail an RPL form, employment declaration and criminal record consent. Any advice on filling RPL form greatly appreciated, seems straightforward, but as you guys and girls already done it is there anything else you could add.
Enough of my rambling now, lol, thanks guys!

Police Clearance-Initially I got the Police clearance from my Local police force (Data Protection) for a small fee but for the visa app you need the ACPO for £35 which is valid for a year I think.
Driving Record-I sent counterpart which lists the classes you are entitled to drive and points etc. Be careful if you are applying on a Temp visa as you will need to become PSV qualified prior to getting job offer!! If applying on a Permanent you will be required to get a Light Rigid on your licence on arriving for about $700
RPL- If you have a good CPD file this should not be a problem as they are looking for the extra experience and knowledge you may have gained to make up for the shortfall in qualification equivalent. (Unless of course you have a Para degree!)
Good Luck!!

Certified Copies- I did not have mine certified for the initial application to NSW, only when submitting my application to immigration. Solicitor or JP for immigration. Maybe they are now asking for the certified copies??

Been a Para for over 3 yrs, so that should help with driving from what I've read on prev posts here. As for RPL, looks like i'm going to send them a copy of every cert I have, well, except 10m backstroke one!!
Thanks

I got local GP(and mate) to certify everything, although any copper/ physio/occupational therapist/JP etc are equally acceptable.
CRB not acceptable. It has to be the ACPO police certificate (as per Swigski). Just log on to ACPO website. 35 quid is for return within 10 working days, OR, 70 quid within 2 days! Plus a fiver for each additional copy.
I sent certified copies of both sections of driving licence.
As for RPL form, Section B, I highlighted Paramedic Level 5.
Sections C+D+F+G are self-explanatory.
Section E. I just put " all modules related to ICP level".( must have been ok as have not heard otherwise).
Hope this helps and good luck

I think the 10m backstroke Cert was the one that swung it for me!
Its also a good idea if you haven't done it already to speak to your Occupational Health Dept and get a full history of you vaccinations, which they suddenly want from me at this late stage. I would send that to them also. This is for jabs such as Hep B, Polio etc and they are also wanting me to prove MMR did anybody else have to prove this?, I don't think MMR jab was around when I was a kid (makes me sound really old). I would also get your CV up to date and a written reference from your boss. These are all things I wish I had done sooner.
Good luck with everything.

Many thanks! Just on with the ACPO now. Regarding Swigski's comment on certified copies, did you sent certified copies in with initial application? Wondering if it's best from the start, as don't want application being returned. Sounds like things take long enough already!!
Cheers

Hi there its a good idea to send them as much as possible and keep a few certified copies back for when you send your Visa application in. I got my copies certified at my local Police Station front office, if you're friendly with anybody there.
I think the 10m backstroke Cert was the one that swung it for me!

I think I did send certified copies from the start. Also forgot to mention if you have anybody over the age of 16 going with you they also will need Police clearance certificates.
If you need any more info please do not hesitate to ask and good luck with it all.

hi peeps, glad to hear you are all getting on ok with your applications, was going to reply to a few questions as i read through but they have already been answered so if any one is coming over for interviews and tests etc and wants a beer and chat when you are here then let me know (subject to my shifts obviously) hang on in there! my visa took 9 days from when parramatta got all the papers. so be prepared for a quickie. i think a lot depends on when the police checks down here are due to run out cos they dont like having to pay for new checks. (they last for 12 months) from sending my first email application to starting at rozelle took 365 days exactly!!! spooky eh? just got back from snorkelling at clovelly. lots of pretty fish and octopus. didnt touch anything in case it killed me a bit. lots of sun at the mo with temps from 21C at night to 35C day. havnt seen the quilt since september.

Teepee,
Do you know the average take home of an ICP. No one seems to be able to give an answer just the yearly salary. Would be handy when contemplating how much we can afford on rent etc. Thanks

no one can give you a reply because it depends on what penalties you get for the previous fortnight. you are paid fortnightly and it around $2000 plus. other things to consider are salary packaging which will be explained when you get here as its too complex for me to try to explain. rent will be between $300 AND $700 depending on where you want to live etc. $500 will get you something decent inner west (close to city) but like everything else it depends on whats on offer at the time.

Hey teepee or boweaver,
I'm a US EMT-Intermediate currently in the RPL process trying to get assessed as a Paramedic (not ICP) with ASNSW. How strict is ASNSW with the RPL process? I am not certified to administer Midazolam, Paracetamol, Metoclopramide, or Benzyl Penicillin. I am certified to administer, and do all other practices including a bit of the ICP stuff (IOs, Dextrose, Epi 1:10,000, morphine, and administer about five or six meds that apparently aren't used by ASNSW). In your opinion, are the few differences to vast to overcome? Do you know of anyone in a similar situation? What was the result of their situation? Is there some kind of orientation course that can bridge the differences?
I have called ASNSW and tried to get answers to these questions, but it doesn't sound like the people in recruitment are paramedics, so they weren't able to offer to much guidance. Any advise would be much appreciated,
Scott
