I have a friend who has been living in a brand new 3 storey town house for 6 months built by national company luckily it is not theres they are renting. They have a had a catalogue of complaints. Just to name a few

-Hot water plumbed to the toilet

-Pipework for shower so badly fitted it has caused an awful flood from top floor to ground causing ceiling to collapse and lighting circuits to blow builders/plasterers came out to fix it and was heard to say when he came round to have a look "wish I hadn't bothered to come today I will be stuck her ages" he soon made excuses and left still have a hole in ceiling 2 months later.

-tiles falling of the wall

I could go on

My mum also bought a brand new house

-floor fitted so badly it had an awful squeak and had to be relaid after 3 years of complaining

- waterproofing not fitted in bay window double glazing when there was awful rain it poured in

-tiles falling off wall

so I dont believe things can be any worse than this uk houses = crap quality

maybe in victorian uk mate, but the houses built now are built to maximise profit - crap materials where it can be hidden with a few glossy touches to impress

If you believe that, you're seriously mistaken.

They are worse the materials are of lesser quality. Why else do you think it's cheaper to build here when materials are no cheaper to buy, you figure it out.

If you wanted a house built to the same spec as the UK you'd be looking at twice the price.

The joists are half the size, the windows are cheap and let in draughts and rattle in the wind. You only get one layer of bricks compared to two in the UK.

No central heating, just cheap nasty hot air which we don't even put on.

Nothing is square, everything is "within tolerence".

There's a reason the houses are cheap.
