Nadia Sawalha said today that there are new immigration laws which make it easy to move to Australia! Do any of you guys know what she was referring to?
We are thinking of moving to Australia and I have just started the long haul of information overload!
Can I work in Australia without applying for a visa if so how long and can my family live with me?
I did want to move to the tropical north east but after studying the wild life... Poisonous jellyfish, snakes, spiders and crocks I think Perth sounds the best bet!
What are your experiences?

Too many whinging poms eh? You have never been here and seen that for yourself, you have read it somewhere, or heard it second hand from someone else, so it must be true.
Why bring the football fans in Greece into this? Maybe they were only there for the football and, so what if they were?
I don't know whereabouts you are in the UK and I have no idea where you are thinking of setting up home if you get here, but my advice would be, don't believe everything you hear and read. I have read through a number of your posts again, including #442 and, in my humble opinion, from the way you post, nothing anyone could say to you would make any difference. You have your mind made up that life is better in Australia, even without ever having been here yourself. Oz is great syndrome.

has anyone else had email from co saying its now going to be a 9 month wait for visas instead of 6 if you have a job on modl? someone told me this morning that they were told this and now im panicking if its true then im stuck here till july!
im devastated if this is true
can anyone confirm or hopefully unconfirm this please

We just passed our skills assessment yesterday and were chuffed about that so I can only imagine how you feel. Now we have to start the TRA

I loved today's programme - it really was the country today up on Tambourine Mountain! Its given me a plan B - if we can't get IT jobs in Brisbane then we can buy a hobby farm on the mountain. Although I'm usually an all mod cons person we did use a compost toilet in Queensland and my really fussy daughter even used it - lovely naturally fragranced wood shavings!
I'm immune to the family/friends bit after so many shows but had a tear in my eye when the little boy held the snake - won't say why as I know some peeps wont have watched it yet.

wow - just watched Thursdays show around the rural Brisbane area ! To buy land costs around £80,000 however this is the bit that got me! In the UK I can't get a house built for less than £130,000 plus land! In Australia it would cost from £50,000 + land!
Don't you guys think its so sad? The UK is tiny in size compared to Australia in terms of logistics. Moreover we have around 60 million population compared with Australia 20 million and yet it costs us over double on everything! Way too much greed going on!
Food in this country has become so expensive. Clothes and other items are way too high. I just came back from a trip in the USA and was blown away by how many pairs of shoes my wife purchased for one pair here - 5 pairs for £70! Don't ask... can you believe it five pairs! I now need to have an extension built ready for the clothes to go with her shoes - just kidding babes :-)

Hello LH79, Can't confirm or otherwise I'm afraid, except for the fact that we have a co and we are 31 August applicants. There have been a few August visas already granted which make it 5-6 months and that is for modl applicants so I guess it's the luck of the draw. The 'official' times are posted in the immigration forum under a sticky at the top but I reckon they are worse case scenarios. Anyway good luck with yours

So I guess we are in a better position with our property (our investment )... So thats like £600 a month better off to start but if wages are lower and food is cheaper we must be better off? Would you agree?

bet you hear about your visa within 4 weeks and that will prove it let me know hope all goes well. just watched queensland show thats were we ant to be but would of chose beach option definitely no a mountains person

Far better materials used in the UK, Oz houses are wood with a brick veneer.
