If you have a political asylum programme it will be abused by those who cannot make a living in their home country. There are also plenty of citizens who lounge on the dole as well. I wonder what the ratio is?

These are all questions the US faced a long time ago and the de facto answer was to allow everyone in who was willing to come in undocumented, work for cheap, be victimised, and subject to deportation at any time.
Generally mexicans come to the US to earn money for their families whether they be in the US or back home in Mexico. How many mexican's claim asylum or refugee status in the US anyway ??? Not very many I reckon, cos most of them are too busy keeping their heads down cleaning your pools or flipping your burgers so that they can send cash back home to their families.
A lot of albanians for example come to the UK to collect benefits and import young eastern european girls who they buy and sell to each other and pimp out. In Belfast, my home town gangs of Albanian and Romanian gypsies take the train up from Dublin each day to beg on the streets, often with their young children. They make enough from begging to be able to afford to take a $20 train ride every day ffs. They add nothing to the country and need to be sent back from whence they came.
The US has not faced such problems before and that is a fact.

You can't claim refugee status here. That's partly why.

However, sexual exploitation of illegal aliens is rampant.

http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/USA.htm

Any time you have illegal aliens they are subject to more exploitation. Now, these kids and women are working pretty f'ing hard wouldn't you say?

I think we are agreed on the fact that law enforcement should do a better job of keeping the scum out, but as long as there are open borders and round-the-world flights, it's a pretty daunting job.

The only difference between the US and the UK is that there are NO asylum programmes and NO bennies/dole.

You can claim AQsylum in the US.

Assylum is an idea whose time has passed.

Has anybody added Jack Straw to the list, just been looking at BBC news and he must make the top 3.

Fair enough, and your point about exploitation is an interesting one. In the US many feel that many illegals are exploited through low paid jobs, but then again its their choice to come here. The same happens in the UK and there are even more worrying examples of illegal immigrants being shipped in and essentially imprisioned my gangmasters who rent them out to farmers and the like.
But, the people I have a problem with are the illegals who are exploiting my country.

I think we more or less agree so I'll move onto another thread and make fun of people's pics now

You've completely missed the point here - a lot of them get in and do not work. How about this as an option - the asylum system that the UK currently his isn't scrapped, but its run as it was intended to be with out the interference of human rights groups and scumbag lawyers.
Failing that, the UK Home Office could nip down to W.H Smiths and buy a big world atlas poster and then highlight all the countries in red that have oppressive regimes and that they would consider it's citizens Asylum. Anyone else that jumps off of a truck at Dover from a NON RED country get f**ked off where they came from.

Bloody simple really.

Right ir WAS a war zone. Therefore all Albanian Asylum seekers in Britain can go home to their beloved country and live in peace. Begs the question then....Why are they still in the UK??????

I'm not against genuine Asylum but when there's no longer a need for it then there's also no need for them to stay.

Or Belgium.

Which is undestandable.

PS How many years will it be before the it will be decidedly un PC to use the term Assylum Seeker. I guess they need a replacement word first.

You see if something is wrong people will always want to blame someone but themselves, and if a large group of 'different' looking punters suddenly decamps on your doorstep then you have a ready made excuse and focus for your anger.
Add that to the fact that if you are unemployed that you may well lie about on your arse quite a bit - well then you'll need to do something to burn off that excess energy and add a bit of excitement to your life. Its a dangerous combination.
Presumably there are a lot of geniuses lying about on their arses claiming dole money as well. Shame we don't tap into that.

A shame we can't get the scientists from North Korea and Iran to defect.

Bet they'd get visas.

As to the Sudan -- nearly everyone from there could legitimately seek asylum. It's Rwanda all over again and while everyone got outraged at "Hotel Rwanda" where are the visas for the Sudanese?

Maybe we have to wait until the Katrina refugees leave their FEMA trailers, then we'll be ready for the next load of incoming.

Compare and contrast the authorities handling of the 2 BNP goons with...

There were sporadic clashes with passers-by over chants praising the four British-born suicide bombers who killed 52 passengers on three Underground trains and a London bus last July 7.

People who tried to snatch away what they regarded as offending placards were held back by police. Several members of the public tackled senior police officers guarding the protesters, demanding to know why they allowed banners that praised the “Magnificent 19” — the terrorists who hijacked the aircrafts used on September 11, 2001 — and others threatening further attacks on London.

The officers said that their role was to ensure public order and safety. Police had closed off main roads to allow the procession a clear route. Protesters screamed: “UK, you must pray — 7/7 is on its way.”
