Tony, the Aberdeen Chairman's company has put in a 26million squid offer for Tynecastle. Nice to see that he's using his cash to ease Hearts' debt rather than invest in the Dons. Facking cant.
More than was being asked. It's a good business move, he could build a bunch of flats and make a killing. 26 million into Aberdeen wouldnt make him a profit and wouldnt really impact the dons too much...second thoughts you could get a couple of quality players for 26 million...but in the long term he wouldnt make much back. Sounds like a Tom Farmer character though?

"2006: GOAL Chelsea 1-0 Monaco (agg 2-3)
Jesper Gronkjaer's cross-cum-shot dips over Roma to give Chelsea a priceless lead.

Bit of a fluke, but they'll have it.
Another goal and then Chelski could go though on the away goal rule (?) !

Oh, thanks for the reminder (turns ESPN2 on).

You're right, it makes no business sense to invest money (certainly not the amount quoted) in AFC - or any other football club these days. Fair play to Milne he has invested in the past and he currently guarantees some of the clubs debt which has pushed administration further away. If he only had one hat on perhaps he could concentrate on turning a profit at the club.

I just wish I had his cash I would slip a couple of million the clubs way, maybe hire Ronaldo for a month or 2. But it's easy to spend other people's money.

It would not surprise me if Milne bought Tynecastle, I think he and Robinson are pretty close.

Did you turn on in time for the goal ?

Chelsea's most consistent performer pops up with perhaps his most important goal to date. 2-0 Chelsea and the tie is all square.
(This is from Soccernet - but they don't say who !)

EDIT: Now they do - Lampard.

Rothen, who has been on fire with the ball at his feet tonight, skins Melchiot to get to the byline on the left and cut back with a chip to Morientes. Decent header from the Spaniard places the ball out of Cudicini's reach but strikes the post. Ibarra gets to the rebound before Bridge and, despit appeals for handball from Cudicini, forces the ball over the line with his chest.

The half comes to a close and, as the players leave the pitch, Gronkjaer gets booked for saying something out of turn to the referee - stupid, just stupid.

What a gimp.
Plus giving away that goal...

If it stays 2-1 then Monaco have their away goal and they are through.
They will play Porto in the final and the manager of Porto is tipped to take over at Chelski.
The news item on the Beeb about Ranieri quotes him as saying that he would like to stay in England, so Spurs....Liverpool...?

EDIT:
60 mins
The game promised more goals and it has delivered. Morientes the man on target and it is all square on the night, 2-2, but well in Monaco's favour with Chelsea now needing three goals to progress

Oh well that's it now... 5-3 on agg.
Bye bye Ranieri.

The Partick players get legless as they celebrate their first away win of the season.

Lord Robson of Tyneside takes his boys into the UEFA cup semi 2nd leg tonight at nil-nil. Best of luck to him.
Keep an eye on that Barthez though.

What a lot of gash. Could the current storylines BE any more unbelievable? Why doesn't Ross appear to give a flying f()ck about his daughter going to France? Re the spoilers, do they not have ultrasounds? Maybe not as the ultrasound scene with Ben-the-foetus was as inaccurate as a not very accurate thing.

You can be assured that I'll still be tuning in for the 2 hour finale though. The unrelenting hype has gotten to me and NBC are particularly devious.

Is the Newcastle match on any of the cable channels Dave ?
Currently watching the text commentary.

Marsellie are one-nil up and this has just appeared:
"A hold up in play as a fire is dealt with under one of the stands. looks very, very dangerous for a moment but the authorities are on to it quickly and put out what was quite some blaze"

Scary.
