Re: Relaxing Gun Control
Wise words.
You have just proved what Boiler and I said above - concealed carry is irrelevant in the scenarios you describe. Anyone can buy a gun and keep it at home, no training is required, and if they have a concealed carry permit it is coincidental because it certainly isn't necessary.
That isn't true, and I think you know it!
There isn't as much gun control in the US as you would like, nor in fact as much as I would like, but that doesn't mean there is "no gun control".

Sure, a felon isn't allowed to buy a gun and move it across a state line, but it's so easy to do so, buying a gun without having a background check done, that you don't even need to go and steal one.

The other thing it may influence, is how the Police assess traffic stops. In Oregon the Police can look up if you have a concealed carry before they get out of their car. With no register, that would prove more difficult.

I have bought a gun without a background check, perfectly legally. It was a private sale. I know the law has changed in my State recently, but I'm sure there are many other States that do not check private sales.

The police assume everyone is armed, and it would be safer if everyone stopped by the police realised that the police officer is going to assume you're armed.

Also doesn't matter. People with concealed carry permits don't shoot police officers, felons without any right to have a gun do.

Most of the places, all?, that have a serious issue are controlled by those favouring strict gun control, why not start there?

I once received a solicitation to join the NRA (actually I have received several), a nice letter addressed to "A freedom-loving American". ..... I received it before I became a US citizen. I suspect that the retailer that sold me my first gun sold my name and address to the NRA.

Bearing in mind their worldview, that seems a reasonable prerequisite. See, there's something else for you to look forward to becoming a citizen
