Still dumb though, the pants will end up being a different shade/texture to the jacket.

You could always do a test - take them both to the dry cleaners and see what happens and then chuck them both in the washing machine and see what happens :sneaky:

One of my friends in the UK works for Johnsons and she says nearly all of the stuff that comes into them to be "drycleaned" goes in the regular washer

Yes....would only be slightly annoying if the info on the shop had said that, as opposed to saying machine washable suit :o
