Not sure.

I've been laundering money a lot of late. I found three quarters and a dime in the dryer this morning :D

It's annoying cos we haven't been here long and don't have much off their list. An English(wo)man's word should be his bond :frown:

According to some in the Aus boards, you don't get red tape in the UK. I think you just queue quietly, say 'Please' and Robert's your Auntie's husband.

ID is a new big thing.

Maybe that 'K' is a confirmation of receipt ...

"Sorry, can't pick you up at the gate but will pick you up on the curb"
...
"K" - that would confirm they got your rather important change of plan :)

It's even funnier if they have a touchscreen phone and bugger up the first attempt. Then you end up with an exchange like:

-L

-Sorry, meant K

Which takes longer to type than just OK

Work with engineers and you get a lot of ACK messages. Short for acknowledged,

Yes, that would be fine and make sense.

It's usually not though.

It's usually along the lines of:

-Cheers for helping out!
-K

Inane responses that aren't necessary are made worse when it's just "K" :/

Texting is handy as we just don't call people...plus as we hardly ever use a phone, except the missus with work, we have PAYG jobbies and texts work out so much cheaper than calling.

It's still annoying getting naff messages though.

That, or when sending a message, you get charged for it, but it doesn't get sent/received and you get charged again when it gets resent. That's a little annoying.

Which is why I had it disabled. Unfortunately the sender isn't informed that their txt was rejected, but about half the txts I used to get were wrong numbers anyway. :frown:

Mrs P and I use e-mail instead of txts, e-mail is free.

Although we have an obsolete calling plan, with fewer minutes than any plan AT&T has offered in almost a decade, we still get about 3-4 times more minutes each month than we use, and are losing stale rollover minutes at the rate of about 300/mth.

I have an obsolete ATT plan too. Got a message the other day saying I'm being shifted onto a different plan, turns out to be cheaper.

Anyway, I don't use my cell much and had somehow racked up a ton of credit (partly from being out of the country for a year back when I was getting my visa I think). After much googling found out you cannot get it back. So rather than letting ATT keep it, I have slowly whittled it down by making lots of $10 sms donations to charity. Extra bonus for my tax return too!

Delivery card in the mailbox saying they "tried to deliver but no-one was home" which is a bloody lie. I'm a non-driving housewife I KNOW I was in the bloody house and you just couldn't be arsed to get out of your van to ring the doorbell

According to r/britishproblems, that happens quite a lot nowadays.
