On a practical level I agree with you, but all external parties have reasons for possible bias, most obviously revenue maximisation or cost minimisation, but all manner of other motivations, such as kick-backs from pharmaceutical companies to wanting to go home rather than do a full examination of a patient, or rushing through a consultation to get to a patient deemed more important for whatever reason. The patient may be ignorant or ill informed, but unless suicidal, I believe the patient is the one person most likely to be motivated only to seek the best outcome for themselves. Whether they are equipped to find the best outcome, or would recognise it when they find it, is a whole other matter!

Should that be "Freak out about murderers and rapists coming for your family, and carry."?

People shouldn't say
"I could care less" when they mean "I could care fewer" A) because the correct phrase is "I couldn't care less" B) because in this case 'less' is the correct term and 'fewer' isn't. If you were being sarcastic, then I apologise for being pedantic. |

Don't feel bad - none of my Facebook "friends" got it either. I thought this forum would provide a better class of audience....(sigh).):D |

In my defence, I teach English in Italy and I'm sick of students asking me why I say certain words when they hear them in TV pronounced incorrectly. Sometimes it's the fault of the Italian narrator. Frueeeet instead of fruit. Feeeebrey instead of fibre.

Whereas at home, the errors are usually just customers, in the US it seems more universal. Trying to order gnocchi here is like trying to order a glass of water - I know what they want to hear, but I just can't bring myself to say it! |

People who write "loose" instead of "lose" and "tongues" instead of "tongs"

Cop cars that tailgate you. I'm going 65 in a 60 zone in the slow lane, do you really want to pull me over or are you just being a git?

He pulled me over for driving suspiciously because "no-one drives the limit on this road". I mean, he was right... no-one does... Unless they have a cop sat RIGHT ON THEIR ASS. |

I'm better behaved around the filth out here, but I remember when my wife-to-be came to visit me, driving her up from Dublin airport I was flying up the M1 at about 85 when this female Garda officer came burning up behind me flashing her lights. All she wanted was for me to get out of the way, because I pulled into the inside lane and off she went :D |
