In fairness...she was probably a little shaken after dodging sniper fire in Bosnia.

I have to admit I am finding this discussion interesting. I am unsure at least to me what bearing it would have whether he received more money in salary or investments on whether I would have voted for him, especially as the wealthy have various ways of planning how they receive or defer income that the rest of us typically don't have, so there tax returns don't show what many seem to think they do.

As far as him not deducting half his charitable contributions, out of curiosity where would that show on his return ? And there are charitable contributions one can make that are not deductible. If you are correct that his intent to show his tax rate too low what a funny society- someone thinks it is advantageous for political reasons to show less donations because people think it is a negative someone has a lower effective tax rate. Better issue is the damn tax code in the first place that both parties have made so complicated making it easier for wealthy people often to have such low effective tax rates.

It's commonplace to release tax returns, he should do it if there's nothing in them as he says.

If he was dirt poor and had no income he should still do it.

My original comments were that the quoted reasons people gave for seeing his tax returns, such as his "net worth" , were quite incorrect as the tax returns wouldn't show such things- it appeared to me those bringing up his tax returns had such limited understanding of financial matters it wouldn't help them anyway, or the interest was just to find something they could portray as a negative.

Someone posted though that undecided voters might want to see his returns as for them it would be important.

I agree though probably wouldn't have mattered anyway if he had released, so probably a poor political move. Part of his appeal, or entertainment value is his just deciding to go against the establishment and conventional wisdom.

Doesn't matter, Eccles! Just trying to lighten the moment. The fix is in long ago, so it's not a cliff-hanger any more.

Evan McMullin for President
The hot take I'm reading in a number of places suggest his Mormon credentials would help split voters in Utah and Arizona. Clever tactic if he can get on the ballot.
