Finally you admit you're a fan of Bernie.

Good to know.

No, but Cruz or Rubio aren't exactly welcome options either.

Indeed, Obama hates the Clintons so much he appointed Hillary as his Secretary of State. What more proof do you need?

Zargof touched on an important point, i.e. that Trump really only called for hitting the Pause button with respect to immigration of Muslims. From a security standpoint, that makes sense, and all the Republican candidates screaming Hillary talking points about Trump are digging their political graves. Only Cruz was smart enough to refrain from piling on. I predict he ends up as the party's candidate and better than even chance he wins the Presidency.

Trump has opened a dialogue with the American people where perhaps more than 60% agree with him. Part of the frustration leading to that groundswell is that the political elites of both parties are chanting identical mantras - same as in Europe, which is why the Front National Party in France came in first in last Sunday's elections, and why elections in Germany are likely to see the fall of Merkel as well as the Socialists.

Maybe if you are in the business of selling religion-test machines. From a security standpoint, a dictatorship makes sense too.

It only makes sense in a very simplistic fashion. The reality is that such a policy merely confirms what ISIS has been claiming, namely that the "west" is at war with Islam. It's no surprise that even the Pentagon has piled into Trump on this:

Actually, from a security standpoint it's nuts. For the simple reason of how do you implement it? Remember the current I-94 where it asks have you been involved in espionage or are a terrorist or were a Nazi. How many terrorists do you suppose tick the little box? Do they add another box asking are you a Muslim? Do they have a colour chart and if your skin matches you're barred?

Any bright ideas as to how to implement it effectively such that it will stop a Muslim entering the country who tries to hide their religion.

Anyway, my point was more that I don't think Trump really believes it's a good idea, just another step in his controversy creates cash journey.

That's too simplistic and silly a response. No one is in that business. We're talking security concerns. It may be that the majority of your fellow citizens don't want to risk having their kids machine-gunned at a rock concert or a Christmas dinner, even if that means that their PC credentials might be revoked.

Security can be enhanced without falling into dictatorship, just ask Jimmy Carter how he handled the Iranian crisis.

I doubt that as 60% of voters view him unfavourably.

Was there not a previous President who did something very similar at the time of the Iranian Embassy incident?

It maybe be that a majority of your fellow citizens realize that even though they "don't want to risk having their kids machine-gunned at a rock concert or a Christmas dinner" they are smart enough to realize that Trump's "policy" is likely to be both unworkable and counter-productive.

According to Nate Silver, more people think the moon landings were fake than support Trump.
