Just as a stopped clock is right twice a day, he actually almost had a point though.
The terrorists in question are certainly 'Islamist' but they certainly don't represent the Muslim faith any more than people like the Planned Parenthood shooter represent Christianity.
If we continue to demonize Muslims as an entire demographic in the wake of such events, we're just doing ISIS's work for them. Unity is what will bring them down, division is what they want. It's much harder to radicalize a group of people who aren't made to feel marginalized by the wider world.

I was just mildly trying to get at the question of "Who is a Muslim" which obviously would be raised if the U.S. were to ban Muslims from entry to the U.S.

Well yes, that's even more pertinent. That would require quite a lot of profiling. We can't expect sovereign nations to add a line for religion on their passports to satiate our leader's uncontrollable xenophobia. Do we just ask them at the airports if they're a Muslim or not?

Try reading it again.
You were going on about Muslims.

World Geography. If you have knowledge of any country outside of NATO that the US isn't currently at war with, then you're quite obviously a terrorist or some kind of pinko and must be turned away with extreme prejudice at any port of entry.

I'm sure the RNC response to this would be "Please proceed Doctor."
2016 election: Ben Carson blasts RNC, threatens to leave Republican Party - POLITICO
But seriously, Rince Prius and his cohorts are getting to the stage of shitting themselves over Trump.

ISIS and Islamist terrorism may be real threats, but no matter how much they want to believe it, ISIS is not a sovereign nation. It is not right to just slap a blanket ban on members of an entire religion in response to those threats. What has an Albanian or a Bosnian, for example, got to do with any of that?

No, nothing like that. Carter's restrictions on Iranians entering the US was action taken against all Iranian nationals as a direct result of the hostage crisis. It did not single out Muslims, and it also had provisions for entry in emergency cases.
