No, it's something Michael O'Leary said as a joke on a TV interview, got him loads of publicity, it has been categorically denied by Ryanair, but the Leader here did manage to make it front page yesterday.

BarStewards... I bought a RyanAir Gift Voucher on-line for some friends (who travel a lot) for Christmas by Credit Card. My friends have tried to redeem the voucher a few times now WITHOUT SUCCESS. After many emails and expensive calls to RyanAir (£1 per minute) we have been RIPPED OFF again... Apparently if the entered name of the recipient of the voucher (my friends) and the name of the lead passenger (of the subsequent flight booking) do not match exactly then Ryanair's system will reject the voucher number !!!

We are now told "In accordance with Ryanair Gift voucher terms and conditions " no refunds or changes are allowed.... and they can't do anything about it SO KISS GOODBYE TO £75 QUID... paid in good faith .

So how I wish I'd just send my friends either a cheque or cash in the post would have been less of a risk. YES I HATE RYANAIR because (cheap or not) their systems/marketing are deliberately made to mislead.

June 2008:

Many airline tickets still a rip off - May 2008
http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/22...-sites-rip-off

The latter...

A recently published report shows that the European Union is making slow progress in bringing recalcitrant sites to heel, despite a seven-month investigation.

EU consumer commissioner Meglena Kuneva. "I intend to work with member states to do everything possible to wrap up this investigation by [1 May 2009]."

Lets see if he does but honestly.... seven months, then another year for the guys report... I tell you, it's the EU and it's politicians that are ripping us off! what is it they need to do that takes this long? they drag their feet on everything and then charge obscene amounts for their wages/perks. It's really simple, just draw up a paper of legislation that advertising must include all costs... if it doesn't already exist, if it does then do something about it.

One of the problems with EU justice is that it fines the companies as a form of punishment, what this really means is it fines us... the people who are suffering as a result of these companies deceit because that is where the fine will come from eventually. The solution is to not fine the culprits, take their routes and licenses away, then lets see how many try this deceitful form of business!

Contact your card company and demand your money back, ryanair have not provided you with the service you required. Do not let them get away with it.

We bought some tickets for a return trip to England a couple of months ago. Ryaniair cancelled one of the flights and because this shortened our trip and did not cover the dates we wanted to be in the UK we were offered a change of flights or a cancellation if preferred. We cancelled about 2 months ago and have still not received our refund.

Does anyone have any idea how long this is likely to take? I can not contact them via the internet and all the numbers I ring lead me to answermachines after waiting endlessly for the options which do not include queries re refunds.

Any advice would be appreciated.

In my limited experience I found trying to contact any of the cheap carriers post booking is a nightmare. I had a booking I made with Thomsonfly about a year ago which I wasnt sure had gone through. I ended up ringing a TF travel shop in the UK to get a telephone number for the desk at the airport in Spain so I could get them to access the system to check the flight was booked

I too am still waiting for a refund for a cancelled flight in early Feb' !! Despite being told TWICE by ServisAir at the airport that a refund is automatic to your credit card and takes 7/10 days !!!!

Numerous emails and calls have led to nothing but more expense to the point that it's hardly worth bothering with. You shouldn't have to pay to claim back what is yours in the first place.

I personally am convinced it is just another deceptive practise to p*** you off enough to forget it. It's a disgrace !!

Ryanair are exceptionally good at misleading, delaying and confusing people. Should be call "WildGooseChaseAir".

PLEASE SOMEONE from Trading Standards or the LAW CLOSE THESE B*******Ds down !! Micheal O'Leary has stolen my and many other's money !!!

Go back to your card company and demand your money back, tell them that Ryanair cancelled your flight and you still do not have your money back. You have paid for a service that you have not had, so your card company should return it to you
