You obviously know very little about the history of the Royal Navy.
Flying a false flag etc is a well known strategy in Naval History.
What does that say about our genes.

You don't think they might have used high-powered binoculars to identify the ship as a NATO ally ?

However that does not excuse the use of false identification.
If that had been an aircraft entering UK airspace with false identity there would have been fighters scrambled to intercept / escort her.

the flying of a false flag was common when at war, unless I have missed something because I have been out hobnobbing with the Spanish, that is not the case -
we seek them here
we seek them there
those Spaniards is everywhere

but all you would see is a blip, no ident such as IFF available, which applies to the civil aircraft flying overhead full of holiday makers.
So radio callsigns are a must.
And IIRC the issueing of an incorrect callsign is against maritime law, which could lead to the vessel being impounded.
one down, a couple of hundred to go.

I'm sure that Windy not only knew which ship it was but could also tell us what the crew had for breakfast.
However that does not excuse the use of false identification.

Right Load of Cobblers Coming out of Gibraltar at the Moment
Unfortunately we only have the limited reports from the Gibraltar Chronicle that seem to have been copied to The Daily Telegraph. No corroborative evidence. Not even details of which part of Gibraltar’s waters this happened.
The Gibraltar Chronicle was also the originator of the Queen Victoria non-event of last week. Is it trying single-handedly to push Britain into another punch-up with the entire Spanish-speaking world ?
You really do have to take a really close look at the reporting that comes out of Gib, when you see them trying to pass off a video of a cracked Royal Navy navigation screen as evidence that the International Maritime Organisation had moved the border so that part of La Linea is inside Gibraltar !
http://gbc.gi/news/3004/la-linea-mar...ng-to-un-chart
Then they showed an aerial photograph of mysterious marks on the seabed reputedly caused by two man skiffs with rakes, but leave in the bottom left-hand corner of the photo a 60,000 ton quadruple-screwed cruise-liner moored not but a few hundred metres away - that had nothing to do with it.

And don’t get me started on the “charity containerâ€. I mean the hard work of the people involved in collecting has to be applauded, but what a debacle! Must have had every customs officer in the world holding their sides with laughter.

Melton Mowbury doesn’t begin to describe it.

Hope 8 months isn't too far in the past for you.

Madrid - Just as Spain’s Ministry of Defense has seen its budget cut by some 30% as part of recent austerity measures, it turns out they have spent some $680 million on the design of a brand new S-80 class submarine. One big problem, the darn thing won't float.
See what I mean now EMR ?
