Re: Gibraltar 2
Blue Fin Tuna fishing is not prohibited in UK waters if you have a permit. During the Blue Fin fishing season this summer UK waters were heaving with foreign fishing vessels.

Hammond delivers stern warnings over Gibraltar and Falklands
British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond delivered a firm warning to Spain yesterday over its “unlawful and inexcusable” incursions into Gibraltar’s territorial waters. In a speech to the Conservative party conference in Manchester, Mr Hammond also said the British Government would uphold Gibraltar’s right to remain British for as long as the Gibraltarians wished it.
He followed his stern words to Spain with a robust message to Argentina to end its “shameful bullying and harassment” of the Falkland islanders

Re: Gibraltar 2
The EU commercial season ended in July and the shoal of bluefin seen was in August.
There were fears that illegal fishing could be happening.
M&S last month were handing out leaflets on sustainable fish with Bluefin on the list of endagered species that no one with a concience should
consume.
Maybe Fred can find out where the Gibraltar catch end up on local tables or on a plane to Japan
Either way someone is making a lot of money .
I expect to see the excuse that as Spain etc do it then its ok for Gib.
Thats as pathetic as excusing beating your wife only at weekends just because the neighbour does it every day.

The Spanish government "are the last colonists in Europe", the Chief Minister has told the United Nations Special Political & Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee). Spain has long claimed Gibraltar is the last remaining colony in Europe, but Fabian Picardo has turned that statement on its head, arguing that it is only because of Spain’s objections that Gibraltar remains on the UN’s list of Non-Self Governing Territories
And in just this year we have seen established, in addition to all our other existing institutions, The University of Gibraltar and a national bank, the Gibraltar International Bank.
Indeed, our nation is the third largest in the world in GDP terms per capita.
And our financial services are amongst the most highly regulated in the world.
We enjoy exchange of information agreements with 79 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain.
And Gibraltar will be the first EU jurisdiction to have a central register of beneficial ownership of companies, which will be in place before the end of the year.
Because we are totally committed to transparency in international financial transactions.

Really, you are flogging a dead fish here. I told you long ago it wasn't working for you. You have a few other active fantasies which will likely last you for a few more laughs, but this one is really, really dead now. Every fish story post hacks another chunk off your already pathetic credibility. Maybe you should consider letting this one go.

Re: Gibraltar 2
Well, thanks to the EU you love so much, all EU dependents can legally harvest them in UK waters, which frankly, makes Gibraltar look like mother Teresa. And that's clearly the last thing you want to convey, after all, GiB is responsible for everything from tax evasion to moral decay to global warming. Innit?

I know facts are not your thing but as the tuna arrived in UK waters after the close of the season any fishing was illegal.

Again you twist your comments to make others look stupid when all others are trying to do is put you right when you say, and I quote: ‘So you want the UK law that prohibits fishing for blue fin in UK waters…’ Now you change your comments to read 'after the close of season'. In actual fact, because of the EU, you are wrong once again because the UK has no say in who fishes for Blue Fin in UK waters. There is no UK law.
It doesn’t matter what arrived when, the plain fact is, under the beloved EU, any vessel that has a permit can fish for Blue Fin in UK waters. Do you understand what a permit is? It relates to quotas and season.

Fishing for Blue Fish tuna IS NOT ILLEGAL IN BRITISH WATERS if you have a permit. Do you dispute this, yes or no?

The UK is against catching endangered species.
IF and its a big IF commercially viable numbers of tuna did arrive in those UK waters open to other EU countries with a quota in the legal season they could in theory fish for them.
But they must have a quota agreed by the EU unlike Gibraltars self awarded one.
Fortunately the UK government takes a higher moral stance than Gibraltar.
I do not believe in if buts and maybes.
The facts are that there is little evidence if any illegal fishing for Bluefin in UK waters as the fish were either not present or when they were it was out if season.
Reality not theories..
